Freight cars

Acetate and triacetate polymers are white amorphous soHds produced in granular, flake, powder, or fibrous form. They are used as raw materials in the preparation of fibers, films, and plastics. Polymer density varies and ranges from 100 kg/m for the fibrous form to 500 kg/m for granules. Acetate polymer is shipped by trailer tmck, railroad freight car, or multiwaH bags. 

The explosions resulted in 223 injuries. Buildings and a number of freight cars were damaged (Figure 2.14). Car damage included both inward and outward deformities.

In June 1950 an Army Warehouse was destroyed by fire with a 2 609 000 loss. It occurred two days after a shipment of fiberboard arrived in which a freight car of the shipment had experienced a fire. The remaining fiberboard was stored in a cubical pile of 24 000 cubic feet. Spontaneous ignition was suspected. Data for the fiberboard was developed (Gross and Robertson [5]) ...

Ferric oxide (Fe203) occurs naturally and is often used as a red pigment employed in paints and primers, as well as in rubber formulation. Because of durability, the iron oxide pigments are used in barn and freight car paints. The synthetic pigment is made by heating iron sulfate. 

In its decision of revision, the District Court of Monchengladbach avoids commenting on the physical impossibility of the thirty to forty freight cars in a most unusual way while quoting the verdict verbatim at all other times, in this instance the Court simply omits the claim of thirty to forty freight cars in its quotation from the verdict. Was this deliberately omitted, or... 

One practical application of dispersions was the use of a brushed-on 50 50 mixture of molybdenum disulphide powder and petroleum solvent for the lubrication of freight car centre plates, which was at one time specified by the Association of American Railroads. 

Use Linings in interiors of containers that haul dry bulk ladings of edibles or chemicals. Complies with FDA regulations. Accepted by the Meat Inspection Division of the USDA for interiors of freight cars, motor trucks, and trailers and in federally inspected meat-processing plants. 

When commodity statistics of railroads in a particular area, district, or region are combined, they point up the peculiar production and traffic characteristics of areas which may have a bearing on such matters as freight car distribution. When the annual statistics of all railroads in the country are combined, a comprehensive picture of the producing and consuming areas is obtained as well as a clearer understanding of the vital part played by railroad transportation in the economic life of the nation. 

For the freight transported in these privately owned freight cars, the railroads collect the published tariff charges for the shipment, but pay the owners of the car a specified rate per mile for both the loaded and empty movement of the car. 

Cans are tested by air pressure on rotating wheels, and faulty ones are automatically rejected. The tested cans are then packed in cases, cages, pallets or directly onto freight cars according to the customer s preference, with end closures shipped separately. Noncylindrical containers, e.g. rectangular or oval cross-section, are more difficult and slower to make. 

The major method of transportation of heavy chemicals is the railroad. Here, rates have gone up rapidly. Gerrit Van Schaick, General Traffic Manager for American Cyanamid, said at a recent MCA Transportation Symposium in Cleveland (I), that since 1947 railroad freight rates have climbed 64% and the cost of freight cars 52%, while in the same period chemical prices have risen less than 10%. It is hard to see that these trends will reverse themselves in the coming decade.
