Fractionation, poIy

The ex vivo IL-6 and TNF-inducing activities of fractionated and modified or unmodified poly(MA-CDA) were performed according to the method reported [26] and shown in Figs. 12 and 13, respectively. A similar tendency was shown in IL-6 and TNF induction from peripheral whole blood cells by those of poIy(M A-CDA). [Pg.185]

The quasi-linear relationship between the logarithm of the retention factor and volume fraction organic cosolvent in the mobile lase seems to be the general rule in RPC. However, special effects can ur to cause this rule to be violated. Marked deviation from linearity was observed by Melander et al. (158) with retention data o poiy(ethylene glycol) derive-... [Pg.262]

The value of 6 mole % oxime ester was chosen. The data indicate, that poIy(methyl methacrylate-co-3-oximino-2-butanone methacrylate-co-methacrylonitrile) (P(M-OM-CN)) exhibits an 2.5 fold increase in sensitivity over the corresponding copolymer when the mole fraction of methacrylonitrile is 15-22%. On increasing this to 28%, the sensitivity begins to decrease. This latter effect is potentially due to the solubility characteristics of the polymer. Since the sensitivity of P(M-OM-CN) (86 6 8) is equivalent to that of P(M-OM) (94 6), it appears that a minimum amount of methacrylonitrile, between 8 and 15% in this instance, is required before any improvement in photosensitivity is observed. [Pg.34]

Fig. 5. Induction of poly-iV-acetyllactosamine expression in differentiating mouse neuroblastoma cells. N1E-115 neuroblastoma cells were grown in the undifferentiated form or induced to differentiate by serum starvation for ten days. The glycopeptides metabolically labelled with H-glucosamine were prepared by pronase digestion and fractionated by gel filtration on a column of Bio-Gel P-100. The poIy-fV-acetyllactosamine glycopeptides (poly-LacNAc) were eluted in the fractions indicated by the bar [39]. Fig. 5. FTIR spectroscopy with photoacoustic detection and micro-Raman confocal spectroscopy were used to study the conformations of poIy(epsilon caprolactam) and poly(epsilon-caprolactam)-polybutadiene block copolymers. In the block copolymers prepared by anionic polymerisation, the fraction of the planar conformation of poly(epsilon-caprolactam) chains decreased with increasing polybutadiene content. In the surface layers formed by rapid saw cutting and in the islands formed by microtome cutting, the content of the planar conformation was lowered. This was substantially increased by water treatment, especially at elevated temperatures. 15 refs. [Pg.88]

Immunoquantitation of poIy(ADP-ribose) polymerase from TCA insoluble fractions. Free and hemocyanin-bound poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase from pig thymus (4) was used to prepare polyclonal antibodies in rabbits. The highest titer was obtained with hemocyanin adducts. With the aid of these antibodies, we have developed a procedure for inununoquantitation of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase. Amounts of antigen could be determined when the TCA precipitates from cells or tissues were dissolved and applied to nitrocellulose. Antibodies specifically binding to the absorbed antigen were then determined with ( I) protein A. The procedure allowed quantitation of polymerase in the ng range (Fig. 1). Determination of cellular contents required only 10 cells. Recovery of added polymerase was almost quantitative. [Pg.81]

The nuclear matrix-associated poIy(ADP-ribose) represent short polymers while complex polymers are released from the nucleus by the salt extraction. Molecular sieve chromatography analysis revealed that the nuclear matrix-associated ADP-ribose polymers, which represented 50% of the total residues are short polymers, while the polymers extracted by salt contain both short and complex chains (Fig. 2). These results demonstrate that there are considerably more polymer molecules in the nuclear matrix as compared to the salt extractable fraction. Therefore, it is very likely that in the nuclear matrix there are more molecules of protein modified by these... [Pg.175]
