Formulations disruption

The significance of this novel attempt lies in the inclusion of both the additional particle co-ordinate and in a mechanism of particle disruption by primary particle attrition in the population balance. This formulation permits prediction of secondary particle characteristics, e.g. specific surface area expressed as surface area per unit volume or mass of crystal solid (i.e. m /m or m /kg). It can also account for the formation of bimodal particle size distributions, as are observed in many precipitation processes, for which special forms of size-dependent aggregation kernels have been proposed previously. [Pg.245]

Frequent changes in contaminant type and concentration in the feed soil can disrupt the efficiency of the soil-washing process. To accommodate changes in the chemical or physical composition of the feed soil, modifications to the wash fluid formulation and the operating settings may be required. Alternatively, additional feedstock preparation steps, such as blending soils to provide a consistent feedstock may be appropriate.77,83... [Pg.563]

The upper respiratory tract was studied in 686 inhabitants of Ukraine who came into contact with OCPs in the middle of the 1960s [6] 205 produced DDT and its formulations 51 produced HCH 216 came into contact with OCPs in agriculture. Respiratory tract disruptions were observed in 302 subjects, and olfactory disruptions in 178, i.e. in 44.4% of those having contact with pesticide combinations, 41.1% of those producing... [Pg.63]

For protection of domestic cattle, feeds should contain <0.05 mg diflubenzuron/kg FW. Cottonseed may be added to cattle diets provided that diflubenzuron concentrations in the seed do not exceed 0.2 mg/kg FW and that cottonseed composes <17% of the total diet bulk (Gartrell 1981). Diflubenzuron causes biochemical upset, as judged by lowered testosterone levels in chickens and rats (USEPA 1979), altered glutathione 5-transferase activity in mouse liver (which adversely affects the ability to detoxify foreign substances by way of conjugation Young et al. 1986), and disrupted hydroxylamine activity in human infants (USEPA 1979). Additional research seems needed on biochemical alterations induced by diflubenzuron. No diflubenzuron criteria are currently recommended for protection of avian and mammalian wildlife. All data available suggest that wildlife species are about as tolerant to diflubenzuron as are domestic poultry and livestock however, the wildlife database seems inadequate for practicable criteria formulation. [Pg.1015]

What are the accepted indications for anxiolytics Generally speaking, these medications are given nowadays when a patient suffers from anxiety states or symptoms to such an extent that his daily routine is considerably disrupted. It is quite clear from this formulation that the indications for anxiolytics are less sharply defined than those of the antipsychotics and antidepressants when do anxiety symptoms impair daily routine to an extent that one can speak of considerable disruption And who is to determine whether a disruption is considerable or trivial the patient, the doctor, the relatives ... [Pg.18]

Neem extracts, pure constituents (i.e. azadirachtin) and formulated products showed positive results against Tetranichus mites [279-283]. Less polar extracts were considerably more toxic than polar ones or cold-pressed neem oil or commercial neem oil, and reduced the fecundity of the mites on treated plants and the survival of nymphs hatched from treated eggs application of pentane extract or neem oil in sublethal concentrations, caused growth disrupting effects on the nymphal stages and ovicidal effects. Quantification of the insecticidal substance azadirachtin in the extracts revealed that this compound was not the most active principle against the mites [284]. [Pg.433]

An example of interactive mixing between two excipients is the interaction between fumed silica and other components in the formulation. At low concentrations, e.g., 0.05% to 0.1%, the fumed silica is an effective glidant. It appears to function by being adsorbed onto the surface of the other components and thereby disrupting the cohesive forces within the powder bed. However, above 1% the fumed silica may begin to impede the flow, because the available adsorption sites are occupied and the excess material is mixed in with the rest of the components. On its own, fumed silica does not flow well. [Pg.98]
