The physical properties of finish removers vary considerably due to the diverse uses and requirements of the removers. Finish removers can be grouped by the principal ingredient of the formula, method of appHcation, method of removal, chemical base, viscosity, or hazardous classification. Except for method of apphcation, a paint remover formulation usually has one aspect of each group, by which it can be used for one or more appHcations. A Hst of the most common organic solvents used in finish removers has been compiled (3). Many are mentioned throughout this article others include ethyl lactate [97-64-3] propylene carbonate [108-32-7] furfural alcohol [98-01-1/, dimethyl formamide [68-12-2] tetrahydrofuran [109-99-9] methyl amyl ketone [110-43-0] dipropylene glycol methyl ether [34590-94-8] and Exxate 600, a trade name of Exxon Chemicals. [Pg.550]

The examples that have been utilized for determining both EDJ0 (in Chapter 6) and LD50 values in this chapter have been based upon visual inspection of graphical data. In actuality, in the pharmaceutical industry acute LDJ0 as well as EDJ0 values are obtained by employing one or more of several statistical formulas/methods (e.g., Litchfield and Wilcoxon). These analyses provide a more accurate determination of the value in question. [Pg.105]

The object of the mathematical analysis is to determine the type of reaction and to evaluate the constant, k. This may be done from two experimental observations with the help of the integrated formulas. Methods will be developed later for calculating k at various temperatures, and sometimes k can be estimated even without experimental determinations. The determination of the numerical value of k is the practical goal from which useful, quantitative predictions can be made. For example, when k is known for simple reactions, the rate of reaction at any time, or the per cent conversion of material after any length of time can be calculated. [Pg.14]

There are two methods used to calculate the dose to administer to the patient. These are the formula method and the ratio-proportion method. Both methods produce the same results. [Pg.72]

The formula method is used for any form of medication. For example, a healthcare provider prescribed 500 mg of Ampicillin Sodium. The pharmacy has 250 mg capsules of Ampicillin Sodium. Here is how you calculate the number of capsules to administer to the patient ... [Pg.73]

Parenteral route injections are also calculated using the formula method. Suppose the healthcare provider ordered 375 mg of Ampicillin. The pharmacy delivers a solution of 250 mg in 5 milliliters. How many milliliters should be administered to the patient Here is how this is calculated ... [Pg.73]

The set of PDEs was written in dimensionless ffarm. The spatial discretization is performed using the Keller box scheme and the method of lines is employed to reduce the PDEs to a system of ordinary differential equations. The resulting system is solved using a backward differentiation formula method. [Pg.407]

The formula method uses the following formula to determine the correct dose. [Pg.142]

Parenteral medication is a medication that is administered to a patient by an injection or by an intravenous flow. The dose for an injection is calculated using the formula method or the ratio-proportion method that is described previously in this chapter. [Pg.143]

Heparin is a medication that inhibits the formation of platelets and can be administered either as a subcutaneous injection or as a continuous intravenous infusion. The proper dose of heparin is always calculated using either the formula method or the ratio-proportion method. [Pg.145]

The formula method and the ratio-proportion method are also used to calculate parenteral medications. Alternatively, parenteral medication can be administered through a vein either as a bolus or an infusion. If infusing through an intravenous Mne, the nurse must calculate the number of drops per minute the IV should run to dehver the amount of medication ordered. [Pg.146]
