Forcing test

If it is known that a drug must bind to a particular spot on a particular protein or nucleotide, then a drug can be tailor-made to bind at that site. This is often modeled computationally using any of several different techniques. Traditionally, the primary way of determining what compounds would be tested computationally was provided by the researcher s understanding of molecular interactions. A second method is the brute force testing of large numbers of compounds from a database of available structures. [Pg.297]

The U.S. Air Force tested the effectiveness of ASH at treating emulsified oil, fuel, and grease, as well as aqueous, fihn-forming foam (AFFF) liquids. These contaminants are common in aircraft wash-rack wastewater and firefighting wastewater. Based on test results, the Air Force determined that ASH can treat contaminated wastewater at a cost of 0.40 to 1.10 per 1000 gal (D208219, p. 502). [Pg.329]

Millice Co. is greatly appreciated for allowing us to use their DAGE series 4000 shear force testing machine. [Pg.345]

Friction is independent of the surface area, of speed (except when the objects are resting), and of temperature. This is in theory. However, in the real world, the contact area does matter. Furthermore, in the case of polymers, in general, and composite materials, in particular, the actual contact area is difficult to determine dne to deformations of the plastic. In reality, applied force, test temperature, sliding rate, and duration of the test, all are important. [Pg.371]

The types of stress relaxation test standardized (for rubbers) split into the two intended purposes. Seals are commonly stressed in compression or in a complex mode of stressing that compression can represent. Hence, sealing force tests arc usually made in compression. The bulk of such test pieces slows oxidative aging and also the uptake of any fluid. but swelling and aging effects do have to be considered in long-term applications. [Pg.259]

Respect to a oxoisoaporphine derivative whose selectivity was refered as MAO-A inhibitor, 2,3-dyhidro-5-methoxy-7/7-dibenzo[i/eA]quinolin-7-one, 0X0 3, this derivative was used in the Porsolt swimming forced test as a nanoencapsulated solution and administered via parenteral [46]. [Pg.240]

The edges and comers of enclosures shall be rounded or smoothed to prevent cutting hazards to operators. Furthermore, enclosures, handles, knobs, and the like shall have adequate strength to withstand rough handling during normal use and pass the relevant tests as described in the standards. Depending on the product and possible hazards the tests may include force tests, steel ball impact test, and drop tests (refer to standards). [Pg.109]

Stability and impact. Tilt tests (10°) and side/top force tests are performed to ascertain the stability of equipment. Impact and/or drop tests determine the mechanical strength of products. [Pg.113]

Creepage and clearance. Measurement of the minimum allowed distances between various circuits, such as primary-to-secondary, primary-to-ground, and within primary. Creepage and clearance distances between various circuits or parts, such as PCB traces, components, transformer windings, and wiring shall not be less than the minimum allowable dimensions when measured and with force tests applied. [Pg.114]

The test weight used in the strength and force tests should be a rigid, metal, cylindrical or torso-shaped object with a girth of 38 inches plus or minus 4 inches (96 cm plus or minus 10 cm). [Pg.558]
