Folded sheet

Its addn at a level of 0.1—5.0% was found to improve the octane rating of diesel fuels (Ref 10) Cuprous Chloride Complex. For prepn see above. It is a red cryst solid, readily decompd into its components at 135—40° (Refs 4 13). X-ray diffraction showed that the azomethane mols lie betw the infinite folded sheets of the Cu(I) chloride (Ref 11). The complex is used in the prepn of highly pure samples of azomethane (Ref 7)... 

Let us note in addition that the layered sulfides M0S2 and WS2 have been found to form nanotubes and other fullerene-type structures, on account of their highly folded and distorted nature that favors the formation of rag and tubular structures. Such materials have been synthesized by a variety of methods [78] and exhibit morphologies, which were described as inorganic fiillerenes (IF), single sheets, folded sheets, nanocrystals, and nested IFs (also known as onion crystals or Russian dolls ). 

A typical plate is shown in Figure 11.22. The plate sections are supported on a ring welded round the vessel wall, and on beams. The beams and ring are about 50 mm wide, with the beams set at around 0.6 m spacing. The beams are usually angle or channel sections, constructed from folded sheet. Special fasteners are used so the sections can be assembled from one side only. One section is designed to be removable to act as a manway. This reduces the number of manways needed on the vessel, which reduces the vessel cost.

The primary particles of acetylene black have different shapes than those of other carbon blacks (Fig. 58). As the increased order in the c direction of the crystalline regions indicates, folded sheets of carbon layers are the main structural component. Their application is limited to special uses, e.g., in dry cells, because of their relatively high price. Total worldwide production is ca. 40 000 t/a.

The folded sheets appear as crystalline needles in low magnification transmission electron microscope (TEM) images, and were described as layers that fold onto themselves (Fig. 4). These... 

Owing to the capability of controlled sizes of MPS to tailor different enzymes and/or proteins, MPS is considered to be ideal host for immobilizing biomolecules. Some MPS, such as MSU (Michigan State University) [42], SBA-15 (Santa Barbara Amorphous) [43-46], FSM (folded sheet mesoporous) [47-48], MCM (Mobil Composition of Matter) [49] or other hexagonal mesoporous silicas [50-51], have been successfully used to enhance the direct electron transfer rate and the catalysis toward target molecules. Later on [22] they proposed the mechanism labeled FSM (Folding Sheet Mechanism see Fig. 4) to rationalize the nature of the products [23,24],...

A specimen may be in the form of pellets, powder, sheet, film, plastic cellular, or composite materials, with a specimen weight of 3.0 0.2 g. The ASTM procedure describes in detail cutting or folding sheet or film materials and conditioning test specimens. 

Another very remarkable structure was recently reported by the group of Kuroda [9]. So far all structures with one dimensional pore systems were either hexagonally packed or disordered. Kuroda succeeded in synthesizing a square packing of pores (Fig. 2) in an orthorhombic structure which are most probably formed following the folded sheet mechanism originally proposed for FSM-16. Formation of the material - called KSW-2 - is possible by strict pH control during the transformation of the kanemite-surfactant composite.
