Focus groups safety managers

Develop specific process safety management systems. Working within the pian, the task groups will develop specific systems and procedures for implementing PSM. The Division A team will focus on its own operations, while (name s) group will direct its efforts toward the other divisions. 

Respondents main focus seems to have been upon the major accidents and evidently opinions differed about the acceptability of these I suppose it s a lot but there again taking the people they got about I don t suppose it s all that many really (worker, interviewee 65). Directors and departmental safety managers considered that in absolute terms there were either too many or a lot of accidents on the railway. But this was qualified by two in this group who believed that the numbers were few relative to the size of the workforce, the twenty-four hour nature of the industry, and the environment within which the workforce operated. ... 

Factor analysis and extensive focus-group work indicates that the survey measures fundamental components of the management system, including management s demonstration of commitment to safety education and knowledge of the workforce quality of the safety supervisory process and employee involvement and commitmenL... 

Our focus-group research found that employees consider this to be very important. It conveys the message that safety is not just an economic issue for management. 

The operations group will develop general operating and maintenance objectives for the facilities which will address product quality, costs, safety and environmental issues. At a more detailed level, the mode of operations and maintenance tor a particular project will be specified in the field development plan. Both specifications will be discussed in this section, which will focus on the input of the production operations and maintenance departments to a field development plan. The management of the field during the producing period is discussed in Section 14.0.
