Sample preparation 1 mL Plasma + 1 mL MeCN, mix on a Maxi-Mix for 5 s, add 1 mL 300 ng/mL IS in water, add 2 mL phosphate buffer, add 10 mL MTBE, shake horizontally on a platform shaker at 200 cycles/min for 15 min, centrifuge at 700 g for 5 min. Remove the upper organic layer and evaporate it to dryness under vacuum, reconstitute the residue in 400 i.L mobile phase, inject a 200 pL aliquot.

SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC DETERMINATION OF ATORVASTATIN AND FLUVASTATIN IN PHARMACEUTICAL PREPARATIONS AFTER DERIVATIZATION WITH 9-CHLOROMETHYLANTHRACENE... 

A selective and sensitive spectrophotometric method for determination of atorvastatin and fluvastatin in tablets have been developed after derivatization with 9-chloromethylanthracene. Atorvastatin and fluvastatin were reacted with 9-chloromethylanthracene in hexane and then tetrabuthylammonium hydroxide for 20 at 90 °C. For spectrophotometric method the derivatives of atorvastatin and fluvastatin were measured at wavelengths, 301 and 303 nm, respectively. The developed method was applied to analyze the atorvastatin and fluvastatin contents in tablets. 

Lovastatin is taken once daily, preferably with the evening meal. Fluvastatin, pravastatin, and simvastatin are taken, witiiout regard to meals, once daily in die evening or at bedtime... 

If fluvastatin or pravastatin is prescribed with a bile acid sequestrant, take fluvastatin 2 hours after die bile acid sequestrant and pravastatin at least 4 hours afterward.
