Floor Thicknesses

The storage material, a granulate infiltrated with paraffin, is heated by hot water pipes. Even though the floor thickness is reduced, 0.5 kWh/m2 of heat can be stored in the floor. An additional advantage of the concept is that no drying of any component after installation is necessary, thereby reducing installation time and cost compared to common systems. [Pg.330]

Note that the concrete is placed with a slot cast into it, back about three brick from the edge of the trench or pit and running the length of the trench or pit, parallel to it. The pit is wide and deep enough to accommodate two brick standing soldier course-one with the narrowest dimension and one with the width dimension parallel to the trench wall. The depth may be the full length of the brick less the floor thickness, if desired, or it may be less than this, but not less than 3 in. If less than the full length of the brick, obviously the brick will... [Pg.243]

Roof pressure, floor thickness change very small but in the roof was big, rock property was the same, it will affect the roof weighting step and pressure, influence the support Working resistance. In Panel 1 the coefficient of dynamic load in periodic Weighting was 1.51, take 1.8 into calculate, support has surplus. [Pg.985]

First floor thickness As protection fdr personnel working in the basement when,.."hot experiments are being conducted on the firs-t floor and to protect personnel on the. first, floor., when the reverse situation is true, the floor,is 3 ft thick in a zone of approximately 25 ft around the reactor. The thickness is an arbitrary one.,whic,h gives gpod shielding, and yet is within practical construction limits. The 25-ft distance is the. most likely zone for "hot" work. [Pg.367]

Economical and aesthetically attractive floors can be applied by the broadcast system, in which resins are squeegee applied to the concrete slab. Filler or colored quartz aggregates of varying color and size are sprinkled or broadcast into the resin. Excess filler and quartz are vacuumed or swept from the floor after the resin has set. This results in a floor thickness of %2-V8 in. (2-3 mm). This type of floor is outstanding for light industrial and interior floors. [Pg.413]

Third, calculation of the cell floor thickness We shall consider heat transfer through the floor of the cell and assume that air circulates below the floor by natural convection, as is true in modem aluminum plants. Starting from the premise that 14% of the total heat is transferred through the floor (this corresponds approximately to the situation in practice), the heat flow will be ... [Pg.86]

Wood in its untreated form has good resistance or endurance to fire penetration when used in thick sections for walls, doors, floors, ceilings, beams, and roofs. This endurance is due to low thermal conductivity, which reduces the rate at which heat is transmitted to the interior. Typically, when the fire temperature at the surface of softwood is 870—980°C, the inner char 2one temperature is - 290° C, and 6 mm further inward, the temperature is 180°C or less. The penetration rate of this char line is mm/min, depending on the species, moisture content, and density (45,46). Owing to this slow... [Pg.329]

Plastic Flooring. Plastic flooring is marketed either as tile or sheet flooring. Tile is suppHed as pieces usually 30.5 x 30.5 cm with a thickness of 0.16—0.32 cm and is usually homogeneous ia compositioa. Sheet flooring, oa the other hand, is produced ia roU form 1.8, 2.7, 3.7 and 4.6 m wide (2- and 4-m ia Europe), and generally consists of a plastic upper component on a fibrous backiag. [Pg.335]

The corroded floor usually is covered with porous friable corrosion product containing ferrous hydroxide, which may form in place by conversion of the steel surface. If acidity is significant, the thickness of this corrosion product layer is slight. [Pg.55]

As the tank fills the capacitance increases while the leakage resistance decreases in proportion to the wetted area. The conservative case is to consider only the floor area. Assume that the charging current Iq < 10 pA and that the gas involved is hydrogen, whose LMIE W = 0.016 mJ. Eor lining thickness d = 2 mm, dielectric constant = 4, and floor area A = 10 m, the... [Pg.125]

The relationships between air exchange rate and temperature difference were determined using COMB (Fig. 11.51) and then integrated as the ventilation model in the thermal model. The rhermai behavior is modeled with the TRNSYS multizone type, considering the hall and the room below the thick concrete test floor slab. For the hall, a room model with two air temperature nodes (one for the occupied zone and one for the rest of the hall) and geometrically detailed radiation exchange is used. [Pg.1099]

When the corrosion had reduced the wall thickness from 6 mm to 2 mm, the floor of the tank collapsed along a length of 2.5 m, and 30,000 m3 of hot fuel oil came out. Most of it was collected in the dike. However, some leaked into other dikes through rabbit holes in the earth walls. [Pg.130]

Solvent-free high-build floor paints are available which can be readily applied with brush, roller or spray to a prepared concrete substrate to give a thickness of 0.10-0.20 mm per coat. Normally, two coats are applied and the first is often lightly dressed with fine sand or carborundum dust to give a non-slip, chemically resistant and durable colored floor, ideal for light industrial traffic conditions (for example, rubber-shod wheels). ... [Pg.103]

Like the high-build epoxy paints, these are solvent-free low-viscosity systems which are readily applied onto a prepared level substrate to provide a jointless thin (thickness approximately 1.5 mm) chemically resistant flooring in a single application. ... [Pg.103]

In recent years, more heavily filled flowing epoxy resin mortar flooring systems laid at 3 to 5 mm thickness are increasingly being used instead of the more traditional trowelled epoxy resin mortar flooring systems described below. The laying costs of the flowing mortars are... [Pg.103]

Hot applied mastic asphalt floors have been used for many years in industrial environments, where a good degree of chemical resistance under normally wet conditions is required. Properly laid mastic floors are totally impervious to a wide range of chemicals but not solvents. In terms of mechanical performance, mastic asphalt floors are similar to the bitumen-modified cementitious floors, but they are generally laid at a minimum of 25 mm thickness and tend to shove and corrugate in service under heavy loads. Mastic floors are not very commonly used now, except where the floor is essentially tanked, such as car park decks over shopping precincts. [Pg.104]

Two-pack epoxy Section 12.3.3. These are widely used to give the maximum protection to concrete surfaces, floors and walls. They can be applied as relatively thin coatings by spray or as thick epoxy surfaces applied by trowel. In all cases, the application must be preceded by adequate surface preparation (see Section 12.6.1). To allow maximum penetration into the concrete the first coat must have a low viscosity. Coal tar epoxies are used where protection is the main requirement. [Pg.132]
