Degradation models for terminal growth of M206 MTV flare pellets in operational cartridges have been developed by Bixon et al. [2,10]. 

Schematic pressing of a 218 flare pellet is depicted in Figure 18.15. It comprises the following steps 1 filling the mold, 2 pressing the pellet, 3 and 4 expulsion of the pellet.

A twin double-side press for 2 x 1 x 8 in. flare pellets is depicted in Figure 18.16. It shows an operator inspecting a pellet with pressed longitudinal grooves on the smallest side as shown in Figure 18.17.

Diercks has reported about a series of pressing-related incidents with pressing RR-119 flare pellets [35]. The composition is given below ... 

Hearn and Singh investigated the electrostatic surface potentials on a consolidation press manufacturing of 55 mm MTV decoy flare pellets [37]. A typical voltage-trace for filling consolidation and removal of the pellet as is depicted in Figure 18.23.
