Flame test for

A UL Type 1 deflagration flame arrester must undergo an endurance burn test while a UL Type 11 deflagration flame arrester must be subjected to a continuous flame test. The test conditions for the endurance burn test and the continuous flame test for a deflagration flame arrester are the same as for a detonation flame arrester. [Pg.157]

Fleischer Burtle (Ref 3) give results for a flame test for different types ofLead Azide. In this test a std safety fuse provides the flame and percent firing of the Lead Azides is recorded as a function of distance from the fuse as shown in the tabulation below ... [Pg.290]

Flame Photometry. An analytical method suitable for qual and quant detn of about 70 elemcats, flame photometry is based on the classical flame tests for the alkali and alkaline-earth metals (Na yellow, K purple,... [Pg.433]

Flame Test for Detonators. This test, designed by Dr Grave, consists of photographing the flash produced by a detonator when exploded. The test is practically valueless because the flame is of nearly the same intensity for different detonators, varying only in size with increase or decrease of the detonator charge... [Pg.436]

A similar kind of synergy was investigated by Cui et al.,90 who prepared by melt blending nano-modified ATH using oxalic acid, a red phosphorus masterbatch and high impact polystyrene (HIPS). Unfortunately, the use of variable amounts of HIPS in the compositions has limited the possibility to see evidence of synergistic effects. The authors have stressed the well-developed and robust character of the char layer formed after UL-94V flame test for the composition HIPS/modified ATH/ Red phosphorus (68/20/12). The use of FTIR confirmed also that both P-O-P and P-O-C groups were present in the char. [Pg.319]

Open flame ignition of mattresses is regulated by CPSC and is covered, once again, by the FFA, since the fairly severe open flame test for mattress sets in 16 CFR 163319 came into effect in 2007. [Pg.590]

Identification A sample responds to the flame test for Sodium, Appendix IIIA, and gives positive tests for Aluminum and for Sulfate, Appendix IIIA. [Pg.23]

Identification A 1 10 solution in 1 2 hydrochloric acid gives positive tests for Aluminum and for Phosphate, Appendix IIIA, and it responds to the flame test for Sodium, Appendix IIIA. Assay Not less than 9.5% and not more than 12.5% of AI2O3, calculated on the ignited basis. [Pg.404]

Many durable flame retardants for cotton have been developed to convey open-flame resistance [344,346,360,361]. The vertical flame test for determining the U.S. children s sleep-wear flammability (16 CFR 1615 and 1616) is a rather severe test and cotton fabrics require a FR treatment to pass the test. The test method requires treatments that are durable to 50 hot water wash and dry cycles. Currently there are relatively few commercially available FR chemistries that are durable under these conditions required today. Some of the reasons include low commercial availability of the chemicals, costs, safety concerns, process control issues, and difficulty in application. [Pg.90]
