Final manuscripts, processing

The fifth chapter has been mainly written by Dr Shyamal I. Parekh, who has also been responsible for all the production process in preparing the final manuscript. The general philosophy is again apparent. A new reaction was needed to manipulate the carboxyl group in peptides and in compounds... [Pg.172]

The manuscript in its final and approved version must be submitted in camera-ready form. The corresponding electronic source files are also required for the production process, in particular the online version. Technical assistance in compiling the final manuscript can be provided by the publisher s production editor(s), especially with regard to the publisher s own Latex macro package which has been specially designed for this series. [Pg.1013]

Publishing a manuscript, whether intended for a journal or a book, is a process. It has four stages the draft manuscript, manuscript review, the final manuscript, and processing of accepted manuscripts. Along the way, responsibility for the different stages passes from the author, to the journal or book editor, back to the author, and finally to the technical editor. This chapter provides an overview of each of these stages as they evolve in scientific, technical, and medical (STM) publishing. [Pg.27]

Special thanks are due to Ms. Jan Shirley, and the Word Processing specialists in RTI s Publication and Design Services, who prepared each chapter in a consistent format and carefully edited the final manuscripts. [Pg.190]

I am grateful to all authors of the individual chapters for their excellent contributions to the book. Particularly, I would like to thank Dr. Steffen Pauly from Wiley-VCH for his great help in preparing the final manuscript and his guidance through the production process. It was great joy to assemble this book and I sincerely hope that it is fun to read. [Pg.501]

I would like to dedicate this book to my wife Hannelore who, for almost thirty years, has suffered through the tedious process of creating more than 100 publications including an earlier book entitled Roll Pressing and many additional technical presentations. During these years she has prepared most of the drafts and in many cases also the camera-ready final manuscripts. [Pg.537]

It has not been an easy task to complete this text, but the process has been greatly aided by the large number of our students and associates who have read and criticized parts of earlier versions. In the preparation of the final manuscript we had the benefit of assistance and criticism from Dr. H. C. Allen, Dr. E. J. Bair, G. A. Crosby, Dr. D. F. Eggers, J. T. Lund, and Dr. E. L. Wagner. [Pg.4]

John Parry did his usual superb job of editing the manuscript and, to meet a tight production schedule, finished in about half the time it would have taken a merely competent editor. As a bonus, he threw in many useful su estions on the final production process. The design firm of Mantle Overall Communications created the book s handsome design and layout, infusing the project with their usual combination of creative flair and good sense. [Pg.260]

SKU conceived of the study, collected the NMR data, processed and analysed all NMR spectra, discussion of the results and wrote the manuscript. GK carried out the molecular docking studies. Both authors read and approved the final manuscript. [Pg.180]

We thank the contributing authors for their manuscripts as well as for their patience through this process. The staff at the American Chemical Society (ACS) Books Department are also thanked for their time and helpfulness. Finally, for financial support of the symposium, we gratefully acknowledge the generosity of the ACS Division of Computers in Chemistry, the Donors of the ACS Petroleum Research... [Pg.225]

Finally, we would like to say how greatly we appreciate the support and assistance of Karin Sora and Romy Kirsten of Wiley-VCH. Thank you, above all, for your patience and understanding during the manuscript production process. [Pg.492]

The guest editor deeply appreciates that well-known experts have decided to contribute to this series. Their effort was substantial and I am thankful to all of them. Finally, I wish to express my appreciation to Dr. Stumpe and his coworkers at the Springer-Verlag for helping me with all the problems which arose during the process of bringing the manuscript together. [Pg.256]

Todd Baldwin, my editor at Island Press, made the entire process through the final product a very positive experience, and his editorial insight once again proved invaluable to the manuscript. He is the best book editor I ve had the privilege of dealing with. I would also like to thank the entire staff of Island Press for their enthusiastic support of this book from the beginning. I am very appreciative of the work of Pat Harris, the most thorough of copyeditors. [Pg.212]

Much of the gain in desk top publishing is lost if the publishers proceed to treat the hard copy in the same way as a typewritten copy, namely to rekey the text and recreate the figures. The results of an ACS survey of ACS authors indicated that 1) in generating drafts for their manuscripts, 59% of the authors use word processing systems, and 2) 93% of the authors produce some of their manuscripts in final form by some type of word processing system, (ref. 24) The types of computers used were 71% microcomputer, 12% stand-alone word processor, 6% minicomputer, 4% mainframe computer. [Pg.12]

Finally, an Addendum (p. 70) has been added during the final processing of the manuscript and presents some most recent applications concerning charmonium and harmonium systems in the IV-dimensional case. This section was written by F. Vinette. [Pg.4]

Finally, the results in a manuscript under review cannot be quoted or incorporated into a reviewer s own research program. After the work is published, a reviewer may use the ideas and data presented (with proper attribution), but the reviewer should not do so based on the review process. Such behavior is akin to insider trading in the purchase of stocks. Although a prison term is unlikely for this breach of conduct, the ethical principle is quite clear. [Pg.9]
