The mass of solid and liquid in the cake remains constant throughout washing and equal to the values present at the end of filtration (M = 50 kg and M = 50.9 kg) as does the cake moisture content (M = 50.46%). It is evident from the data in Table 6.13 that (theoretically) only 1.4 rather than the specified 3.5 wash ratios are required to purify the cake. Data collected for each run included acid analysis using inductively coupled plasma (ICF) to determine cation concentration and titration to determine H concentration.
