Filter press diagram

Filter-pross electrolyzers, which are similar to a plate and frame filter press, are sucossfully used when gases are evolved in course of the electrolysis. Some designs of these types of electrolyzers will be described in detail in the chapter dealing with the electrolysis of water. The electrolyzer consists of number of frames with bipolar plate electrodes c which are separated by diaphragms d. Framos Fig. 18. Schematic diagram of a filter-press... [Pg.187]

X 130 X 95 mm. The lower cylinder was 40 mm in length, with an outlet port for the extraction of filtered water. The piston was 60 mm in diameter with a port in its upper portion for the extraction of air. The two perforated plates were 5 mm in thickness. The cylinder plate had a diameter of 52 mm, the piston plate a diameter of 66 mm. A schematic diagram of this apparatus is seen in Fig. 1. Fig. 2 shows the pressing operation after the successive accretion of layers. [Pg.376]

Figure 2a. Schematic diagram of TIRF optical apparatus. The beam chopper is used to minimize the possibility of photobleaching during experiments. A thin layer of cyclohexanol is used to optically couple the prism to the glass slide. The fluorescent light is collimated and condensed by the lenses and detected by the photomultiplier. The color filter in front of the photomultiplier blocks scattered incident light and selectively transmits the fluorescence emission. (Reproduced with permission from Ref. 17.
