In conclusion, a simple KOH-etching process without ECE is applicable for future microhotplate designs, although the best temperature homogeneity is achieved with the silicon island heat spreader. The island remains an important design feature, especially for the use of thin-film sensitive layers, where the additional heat spreading effect of the sensor materials is small. [Pg.43]

More recent methods of photographing flames include the so-called "Schlieren-Method and the "Motion-Picture Camera Method using films sensitive to infra-red. These methods are described in Refs 7—9 and the definition of "Schlieren-Method" is given in Vol 2 of Encycl, pp C15-R C16-L. The motion picture cameras are similar to those used in die movie industry (Ref 8)... [Pg.430]

POLYESTER FILM. Continuously extruded polyester sheet of various thickness, especially useful in electrical equipment because of its high resistivity. Its tensile strength of 25,000 psi is much greater than that of other plastic films. Sensitized polyester film is used in magnetic tapes, in the photocopying technique known as typography. [Pg.1338]

NOTE 1 This formula results in at least a one stop loss in speed. By increasing the glycin to as much as 12.0 grams, film sensitivity can be increased, but the fine-grain effect decreases. [Pg.239]

Assume that the sensitivity of x-ray film is proportional to the mass absorption coefficient of the silver bromide in the emulsion for the particular wavelength involved. What, then, is the ratio of film sensitivities to Cu Ka and Mo Ka radiation ... [Pg.31]

In this technique the thoroughly dried and developed chromatoplate is laid on top of a piece of film sensitive to X-rays. The film is exposed to the chromatogram for a precise period of time, determined by the type of film being used, and the type of radiation given off by the isotope. The film is then developed by normal photographic procedures. Spots appear as dark areas and can be quantified by densitometric procedures. The major disadvantage of this technique is that, depending on the activity of the isotope, suitable exposure times can vary from seconds to weeks. [Pg.78]
