Filler painting epoxy resin

We have investigated the recovered glassfiber-resin powder for its properties as a filler for epoxy resin compounds which are used as paints or adhesives, and compared it to conventional fillers, such as talc and calcium carbonate. The epoxy resin compound, composed of bisphenol A type epoxy resin (50.0wt%), aliphatic polyamine type hardener (18.0wt%) and filler (32.0%), was prepared. Strength and thermal expansion properties were measured for the molded epoxy resin compound cured 23°C for 7 days. Viscosity was measured for the epoxy resin compound before adding the hardener. Adhesive strength was measured by tearing two ferric boards bonded with the epoxy resin compound which was composed of bisphenol A type epoxy resin (49.2wt%), polyaminoamide type hardener (18.0wt %), and filler (32.8wt%), and was cured at 23°C for 7 days. 

Later (1935—45), new materials such as silicone were developed as water repellent and heat resistant paint. The development of epoxy resins offered a structural material for boat and car bodies. Poly(tetrafluoroethylene) (PTFE), polycarbonate, poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET), polypropylene, polyurethane, ABS and acetals are the latest additions to find their way into plastics technology. Studies have also been carried out with the use of fillers and plasticisers as part of the next generation of materials.

Anaerobic acrylic sealants or cyanoacrylates are known sensitizers, while the modified acrylic structural adhesives that cure in air more rarely cause allergy. Tosti et al. (1993) reported of three carpenters, each of whom became sensitized to wood paints and glues with butyl acrylate, 2-ethoxyethyl methacrylate, or a phth-late. Epoxy resin compounds are another commonly used group of adhesives, which contain resins (generally included in patch-test screening batteries), hardeners, and reactive diluents, as well as many other potentially harmful ingredients, such as tar, fillers, colorants, and other plastics.
