Fiberglass materials

Many materials are subject to deterioration by ultraviolet light (UV). particularly many of the plastics and fiberglass materials. Fiberglass materials for outside use should be specified as UV-stabilized, and most plastics installed outdoors should be carbon-impregnated (black in color). It is particularly recommended that plastic cable ties, which secure cables in cable trays, be carbon-impregnated if installed outdoors. [Pg.547]

According to XUtn (2004) the Chinese use fine flexible polyethylene or polypropylene cloth or sheets for the settlement of A. japonicus (Fig. 14.4b, c).This technique is also used for I. fuscus in Mexico. However, some hatcheries of A. japonicus also use corrugated plates affixed together to form stacks (Ito and Katimura, 1998) (Fig. 14.4d). For H. scabra, Agudo (2007) reported the use of plates made out of various plastic and fiberglass materials. For I. fuscus in Ecuador technicians also use undulated Plexiglas plates. [Pg.441]

The isotope responses obtained after H2 0 replacement with labeled H2 0 are presented in Figure 51.12. Fiberglass materials with and without platinum demonstrate nearly identical 0 responses. The simplest model of H2O transfer into the fiberglass bulk plus isotope exchange with hydroxyls (ri) was proposed ... [Pg.1244]

BR0NSTED ACIDITY STUDY OF FIBERGLASS MATERIALS BY H/D EXCHANGE... [Pg.1252]

The catalysts based on silica fiberglass materials can be efficiently used in many gas-phase and Hquid-phase catalytic processes such as acid-catalyzed isopropanol dehydration reactions. To date, the acid-base properties of fiberglass materials, including the Brpnsted acidity, were not studied in detail. The lack of detailed studies could be due to the low specific surface area of fiber-... [Pg.1252]

A variety of low-dielectric, low-loss resin systems are available for high-speed circuit apph-cations. These include polytetrafluoroethylene (FTFE or Teflon ), cyanate ester, epoxy blends, and allylated polyphenylene ether (APPE). Likewise, a few different reinforcements and fillers are available that can be used to modify the electrical properties of the base material. Although E-glass is stm the most commonly used fiberglass reinforcement, it should be noted that others are available. In addition, inorganic fillers are sometimes used to modify electrical properties as well. Table 9.6 provides electrical property data on some of the available fiberglass materials. Table 9.7 provides data on some of the base material composites available. [Pg.206]

Fiberglass materials generally require at least one or two additional coats of paint for an acceptable aesthetic finish. This technology requires skilled labor. [Pg.208]
