Fertilizers, compound defined

In Malaysia, a slow elease fertilizer is defined as a fertilizer whose rate of release is regulated by the use of coatings of such materials as sulfur and polymeric compounds.

Webster defines the term mineral as any chemical or compound occurring naturally as a product of inorganic processes. Since this chapter is primarily concerned with the use of minerals in plant and animal nutrition, terms such as plant nutrients , trace elements , fertilizer nutrients , and mineral additives are used within the context of Webster s definition, including inorganic fertilizers derived from naturally occurring minerals. 

These results indicate that host plant resistance in cotton will remain a fertile ground for future research. The association of volatile terpenes with glands, and the hormetic and antibiotic effects of one member of this group, are persuasive arguments for bioassaying other compounds. The unexpected synergistic effects observed when G and CO are fed as a mixture demand further study. Thus we intend to expand these studies to more fully define the contours of this growth-response surface, and extend this research to other terpenes. 

In the United States, bulk-blended fertilizer is generally defined as a compound fertilizer produced by mixing two or more fertilizers whose granules are similar in size. These fertilizers are also called blended fertilizers or bulk blends. 

Total phosphorus content is one of the parameters used to define product quality and originality. Phosphorus compounds are present in most vegetables and foods. Some of them such as proteins and phospholipids are important indicators of metabolic activity. Inorganic phosphates are extensively used as fertilizers, so the same considerations that apply for nitrogen species are also valid for phosphorus content in food samples.
