Fatty acids tobacco extracts

Fatty acids as precursors of volatiles in steam distillate-hexane extracts of tobacco and wheat Relative abundances of specific fatty acids in hydrolysates of 2 varieties of burley tobacco stalk and 1 variety of wheat (whole plant Including leaves and stems) are given in Table III. [Pg.106]

Total lipids were extracted and fatty acids were analyzed as described by Grayburn et al. (3). Individual lipids were separated on TLC plates (Silica Gel 60) in a solvent system containing acetone toluene H20 (120 30 16). The chloroplast fraction from tobacco leaves were prepared as described by Palmer et al. (6). Positional analyses for the fatty acids of major chloroplast lipids were carried out using lipase from Rhizopus arrhizus (Boehringer Mannheim) as described by Ramesha et al. (7) with minor modifications. [Pg.378]
