Faculty service

As head of department, he was responsible for planning the new, extensive, and well-equipped Haworth Laboratories. Additionally, onerous duties in the university culminated in his election in 1963 as dean of the faculty of science and engineering at a time of great development and change. Service on innumerable university committees was indicative of the value accorded to Stacey s advice. [Pg.3]

Deborah DeEugenio, Pharm.D., B.C.P.S., is a 2001 graduate of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at the University of the Sciences (Philadelphia). She completed a residency in Pharmacy Practice at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (Philadelphia). Dr. DeEugenio is a member of the Temple University School of Pharmacy faculty as a Clinical Assistant Professor and a Certified Antithrombotic Provider and a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist. Her clinical activity takes place at Jefferson Heart Institute as part of the Jefferson Antithrombotics Therapy Service. The ambulatory clinic serves 400 patients on chronic anticoagulation therapy and provides continuous monitoring and education to these patients. The clinic also provides drug information and pharmacy support to the physicians and other health-care providers at the Institute. [Pg.120]

Tim Hautamaki, MS/HRM, is the assistant fire chief at the City of Lauderhill Fire Rescue, a Fire Service Instructor, and a member of the American Heart Association Regional Faculty. He has 22 years in fire service, and his current responsibilities focus on human resources issues, recruitment, testing, screening, hiring, and promotions. [Pg.7]

We five in the age of quality. Quality is measured, analyzed, and discussed. The simplest product and the most trivial service come from quality-assured organizations. Conspicuously embracing quality is the standard of the age. Even university faculty are now subject to quality audits of their teaching. Some of these new-found enthusiasms may be more appropriate than others, but I have no doubt that proper attention to quality is vital for analytical chemistry. Analytical measurements affect every facet of our modern, first-world fives. Health, food, forensics, and general trade require measurements that often involve chemical analysis, which must be accurately conducted for informed decisions to be made. A sign of improvement in developing countries is often a nation s ability to measure important aspects of the lives of its citizens, such as cleanliness of water and food. [Pg.4]

We thank the staff of the library of the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Santiago de Compostela (SPAIN) for their most serviceable help in collecting literature for the preparation of this book. [Pg.381]

Research funding has been derived in part from past and current grants from the Manitoba Medical Service Foundation, Canadian Institutes of Health Research - Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis, and the US National Institutes of Health - National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research ( R01DE017889). We thank our clinical collaborators, Dr. Cecilia Dong (Faculty of Dentistry, U. Manitoba) and Dr. Blaine Cleghorn (Faculty of Dentistry, Dalhousie U.) for insightful discussions and clinical assessments. We also thank the staff and students of the Dental Clinics at U. Manitoba and at Dalhousie U. for assistance with tooth collection. [Pg.281]

The University is fundamentally an institution of learning, although research and service by its faculty are certainly of major significance. In addition, the land-grant academic institutions have a mission to help their state realize maximum potential for agricultural development and to contribute to the solution of social, economic, environmental, and cultural problems of concern to the citizens of that state. These missions are carried out through the three closely related functions of resident instruction, research, and extension. [Pg.126]

It is unfortunate that public universities who are performing a public service will be required to comply with GLP s. It is also unfortunate that proposed GLP s are written in a way that may alienate the faculty that must try and conform. Some institutions may refuse to comply as a result, those who have made and might continue to make important and significant contributions to the those agencies that are imposing the regulations, will be lost. The authors suspect that the EPA will lose more than it gains. [Pg.130]

The IUB chemistry department faculty—and especially the chairmen of the department—viewed QCPE as departmental property. Nevertheless, Richard Counts ran the operation essentially independently, and many QCPE members were unaware of the departmental ties. The revenues QCPE generated at its zenith tempted some chemists at IUB to dream of QCPE as a potential source of research funds or as a way to leverage donations of computer hardware from major manufacturers. However, QCPE was primarily a service to the community it did not become a big revenue generator. But the organization held its own financially and contributed to the international visibility of the IUB chemistry department. [Pg.334]
