Veiterines intended for use as propints contained either ATNC 40 and Ba nitrate 60, or ATNC 40, Ba nitrate 40 and K nitrate 20%. Those designed for blasting purposes contained ATNC and Na nitrate, to which was sometimes added up to 20% NG. For use in gaseous coal mines, formulations contained up to 93% Amm nitrate. Some of these were called explosifs de mine, type C .

It melted below 100° and was less powerful than PA (Picric Acid). Pepin Lehalleur also stated that mixt of Ammonium Trinitrocresylate with Ammonium Nitrate was used as the French Mining Explosive known as L explosif de mine fran ais, type C, n° lb...

Jouguet, (Jacques-Charles) Emile (1871 — 1943). French physicist, general inspector of mines and professor of mechanics ficole des Mine, ficole Poly technique, member French Academy of Science (1930). He was the author of Me-canique des Explosifs (1917) and conducted research on wave diffusion, movement of fluids, explosives and fundamental work on the hydro-dynamic theory of detonation. His name is associated with that of Chapman-in the famous Chapman-Jouguet condition. In their honor parameters of a steady detonation wave are usually designated by the subscript CJ... 

Explosifs de suret (Safety Explosives). French and Belgian term for expls "safe to handle and to transport", but it does not mean that such expls are safe for use in coal mines with. atmosphere contg firedamp and coal dust. For expls safe to use in such coal mines, the teim "explosifs anrigrisouteux is applied. This distinction between the terms was recommended by Belg Prof Watteyne and adopted by the Congres de Chimie Appliquee at Rome in 1906(Refs la St 2)...
