Experimental Verification of the Cell Model

Using the numerical tables of g, gu gm to whidi we referred (loc. cit. (p. 122) it is possible to evaluate the equation of state (7.1.27) numerically. Let us now discuss the experimental verification of the cell model. 

Reduced experimental values for liquid and solid volume vi X A, Kr, o Xe (after de Boer [1952]) 

De Boer [1952] has shown that this disagreement can be much reduced by decreasing the number z of first neighbours from 12 to 10. 

X-ray scattering data for argon (Eisenstein and Gingrich [1942], cf. also Green [1952]) indeed support the idea of a continued decrease of
