Experiential learning opportunities

Advanced Higher Chemistry is a challenging, but rewarding, course, it has been devised to allow you to develop the ability to think analytically, creatively and Independently, and to make reasoned evaluations. The course emphasises practical and experiential learning opportunities with a strong skills-based approach. 

The most novel and practical solutions may come from individuals who are able to connect disparate ideas from different disciplines in new ways. In short, the ability to connect dots and to perceive out of the box is a particularly strong individual differentiator and a powerful driver of value creation (Berns, 2008). Experiential learning opportunities are extremely important, since fresh experiences and the environments these offer can significantly enhance powers of perception. As noted by Berns (2008), our brains need to be bombarded with things never encountered before to see things differently. There are literally infinite opportunities to connect dots, which is a major reason why interdisciplinary collaborations can be so productive. Importantly, the ability to perceive new opportunities in turn begs for their analysis and subsequent translation for multiple constituencies, frequently leading to more ideas that call for yet additional analysis and translation. 

The Renaissance-era concept of apprenticeship is a good example of dimostrazione in action. Apprenticeship during the Renaissance period was a combination of fundamental studies and extensive hands-on training that resulted in experiential learning. State-based pharmacy associations are another resource for information on career opportunities in association management. Like their national cmm-terparts, a few sponsor experiential clerkships for students interested in learning more about the management of an association. Job opportunities are posted on many association Web sites, e.g., the ASAE (www.asae.org) and many of its state and local affiliates. 

I would also like to thank the faculty at Temple University for encouraging me to pursue this path of research. I am grateful for the opportunity to promote experiential hands-on learning in my Psychology of Creativity class in the Department of Psychology at Ohio State University. The course has attracted many students from various majors across the university.
