Through Francolor, Farben gained exclusive licenses to 259 foreign patents and 53 patent applications. Some 153 of these were in France, 59 in the United States, and 100 in the other countries of the American, European, and Asiatic worlds. [Pg.302]

The Lagow group first entered the perfluoropolyethers field in 1977, by reacting fluorine with inexpensive hydrocarbon polyethers to prepare perfluoropolyethers. In the simplest case (Figure 14.3) poly (ethylene oxide) is converted to perfluoroethylene oxide polymer, a simple reaction chemistry that we first reported in the literature.27 As will be seen later, this direct fluorination technology as well as many new patents from Exfluor Research Corporation have been non-exclusively licensed to the 3M Corporation by the Lagow research group.3 "39... [Pg.214]

In 1970, the first rhodium-based acetic acid production unit went on stream in Texas City, with an annual capacity of 150 000 tons. Since that time, the Monsanto process has formed the basis for most new capacities such that, in 1991, it was responsible for about 55% of the total acetic acid capacity worldwide. In 1986, B.P. Chemicals acquired the exclusive licensing rights to the Monsanto process, and 10 years later announced its own carbonylation iridium/ruthenium/iodide system [7, 8] (Cativa ). Details of this process, from the viewpoint of its reactivity and mechanism, are provided later in this chapter. A comparison will also be made between the iridium- and rhodium-based processes. Notably, as the iridium system is more stable than its rhodium counterpart, a lower water content can be adopted which, in turn, leads to higher reaction rates, a reduced formation of byproducts, and a better yield on CO. [Pg.196]

As discussed in Table 3-2, for 8 drug products, the generic applicant obtained a non-exclusive, royalty-bearing license (except for drug product F, which was an exclusive license, and drug product H,... [Pg.44]

All Intellectual Property Rights and Know How arising from the Clinical Trial shall vest in or be exclusively licensed to the Sponsor in accordance with clauses 9.4 and 9.5 below. [Pg.797]

The DCC process was first demonstrated in 1990 in SINOPEC Jinan Refinery, and has been commercialized since 1994. Shaw is the exclusive licensed provider of DCC technology outside China. The first DCC unit designed and engineered by Shaw was successfully commissioned for Thai Petrochemical Industries in 1997. Up to now, nine units have been put into production worldwide, and several other DCC units (in China and India) are under construction. [Pg.86]

The licensor in the plastic field preferably should not license anyone with the understanding that licensee should not sell competitive goods. One can impose on the licensee, where appropriate, and usually in the case of an exclusive license, the obligation to use his best efforts, but not forbid competition in other goods. [Pg.86]

Although the professor typically creates the invention and writes the patent, Caltech owns it. However, if the professor wants to practice this technology exclusively commercially for a period of time, he or she can take out an option on the technology for a relatively nominal sum. The professor must commit to using the patented technology and make it successful within a 12-month period. If this is not done within 12 months, the option reverts back to the university and exclusivity is lost. If, however, the option is exercised, a company is formed, and Series A money is raised, Caltech will take a small percentage share of that company in return for granting an exclusive license. [Pg.76]

It is now more than 20 yr since the federal government adopted a dramatically different approach to R D by emphasizing technology transfer, private partnerships, and exclusive licensing. This is sufficient time to allow evaluation of the comparative effectiveness of both approaches. [Pg.8]

Grant and Consideration In consideration for agreeing to use this License, the Contributors grant You a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license with the exact terms of this License to Use, the Open Game Content. [Pg.14]

OVPD technology has been exclusively licensed to AIXTRON from Universal Display Corporation, Ewing, NJ, USA, for equipment manufacture. OVPD technology is based on an invention by Professor Stephen R. Forrest et al. at Princeton University, USA, which was exclusively licensed to UDC. AIXTRON and UDC have jointly developed and validated OVPD pre-production equipment. OVPD is a registered trademark. [Pg.229]
