Examples of structures

Representation of such a system by a connection tabic having bonds between the iron atom and the five carbon atoms of either one of the two cyclopentadienyl rings is totally inadequate. A few other examples of structures that can no longer be adequately described by a standard connection table are given in the Section 2.G.2. [Pg.64]

Examples of structure databases are Beilstein, Gmehn, and CAS Registry. [Pg.240]

In this chapter we describe some examples of structures of membrane-bound proteins known to high resolution, and outline how the elucidation of these structures has contributed to understanding the specific function of these proteins, as well as some general principles for the construction of membrane-bound proteins. In Chapter 13 we describe some examples of the domain organization of receptor families and their associated proteins involved in signal transduction through the membrane. [Pg.224]

Both of these structures are open-chained compounds corresponding to crown ethers in function if not exactly in structure (see Chap. 7). They have repeating ethyleneoxy side-chains generally terminated in a methyl group. Montanari and co-workers introduced the polypodes 22 as phase transfer catalysts . These compounds were based on the triazine nucleus as illustrated below. The first octopus molecule (23) was prepared by Vogtle and Weber and is shown below. The implication of the name is that the compound is multiarmed and not specifically that it has eight such side-chains. Related molecules have recently been prepared by Hyatt and the name octopus adopted. For further information on this group of compounds and for examples of structures, refer to the discussion and tables in Chap. 7. [Pg.7]

The most general method for synthesis of cyclic enamines is the oxidation of tertiary amines with mercuric acetate, which has been investigated primarily by Leonard 111-116) and applied in numerous examples of structural investigation and in syntheses of alkaloids 102,117-121). The requirement of a tram-coplanar arrangement of an a proton and mercury complexed on nitrogen, in the optimum transition state, confers valuable selectivity to the reaction. It may thus be used as a kinetic probe for stereochemistry as well as for the formation of specific enamine isomers. [Pg.325]

The purpose of this paper is to thoroughly discuss the ability of anionic living polymerization methods to yield tailor-made polymers, and to discuss a number of examples of structures that have been obtained by these methods and adequately characterized. [Pg.147]

This review covers the personal view of the authors deduced from the literature starting in the middle of the Nineties with special emphasis on the very last years former examples of structure-sensitive reactions up to this date comprise, for example, the Pd-catalyzed hydrogenation of butyne, butadiene, isoprene [11], aromatic nitro compounds [12], and of acetylene to ethylene [13], In contrast, benzene hydrogenation over Pt catalysts is considered to be structure insensitive [14] the same holds true for acetonitrile hydrogenation over Fe/MgO [15], CO hydrogenation over Pd [16], and benzene hydrogenation over Ni [17]. For earlier reviews on this field we refer to Coq [18], Che and Bennett [9], Bond [7], as well as Ponec and Bond [20]. [Pg.168]

Fig. 4.3 Ranges of isomer shifts observed for Fe compounds relative to metallic iron at room temperature (adapted from [24] and complemented with recent data). The high values above 1.4-2 mm s were obtained from Co emission experiments with insulators like NaCl, MgO or Ti02 [25-28], which yielded complex multi-component spectra. However, the assignment of subspectra for Fe(I) to Fe(III) in different spin states has never been confirmed by applied-field measurements, or other means. More recent examples of structurally characterized molecular Fe (I)-diketiminate and tris(phosphino)borate complexes with three-coordinate iron show values around 0.45-0.57 mm s [29-31]. The usual low-spin state for Fe(IV) with 3d configuration is 5 = 1 for quasi-octahedral or tetrahedral coordination. The low-low-spin state with S = 0 is found for distorted trigonal-prismatic sites with three strong ligands [30, 32]. Occurs only in ferrates. There is only one example of a molecular iron(VI) complex it is six-coordinate and has spin S = 0 [33]... In comparison to N- or P-bound species, there are far fewer reports involved with alkali metal complexes containing As-M, Sb-M, or Bi-M bonds. Nevertheless, their chemistry has continued to develop over the past decade and Tables 7-9 detail examples of structurally characterized complexes. [Pg.39]

A number of compounds derived from the basic peptidomimetic 429 have been prepared for different purposes in medicinal chemistry. In most cases, the source of the sulfur atom is cysteine. Some examples of structures and targeted applications are reported in Table 17. [Pg.490]
