Example of output

The costs of an intervention have to be compared with the results of this intervention (Drummond et al. 2004). These results can be outputs, outcomes, and impacts (Fig. 2). An output is the direct result of a production process. Agents of production (resources) are transformed to generate a certain commodity or service (output). For instance, equipment, reagents, and the knowledge of a laboratory technician are used to perform a certain resistance test. Other examples of outputs are contacts, admissions, or prescriptions.

B gives input AGC, in which the gain and maximum output level are simultaneously adjusted by the volume control but where the input-referred compression threshold is unaffected. A separate trimmer adjustment is normally provided for the compression threshold. Control point A for the volume control gives an example of output AGC, in which the volume control simultaneously adjusts the gain and compression threshold, and a separate trimmer is used to set the maximum output level. Another option is feedforward compression, in which the detector is driven directly by the microphone signal a delay in the amplified signal relative to the control signal can then be used to reduce the attack overshoot in the compression circuit [Verschuure and Dreschler, 1993],...

Figure 3.24 shows the examples of output data of an eddy current monitor, a friction monitor, an optical monitor, and a vibration monitor. In the eddy current monitor output, the first-layer clear point is shown in actual data and differential data. In the friction monitor output the, Cu clear point is also shown in actual data and differential data. In the optical monitor output, the residual oxide thickness output data using 100-nm waves and 60-nm waves are adopted. Shorter waves can give us the finer information of the film thickness. In the vibration monitor, the end point of STI is shown as an example.

The CORA expert system was developed by a team of three knowledge engineers, two of whom were programmers and one of whom was a domain expert. The latter was responsible for interviewing other domain experts. Numerous other domain experts also served as reviewers. An example of output from an expert system run is shown in Figure 2.

An example of output from the MSRR system is given in Figure 2. 

An example of output of ° Pb observed by a SF type ICP-MS (Element XR, Thermofisher Sci.) is shown in Fig. 5. As you can see, spectrum shape is clearly shown. Spectrum should be a Lorenz curve in Q-mass type, and that should be a trapezoid in SF type ideally. 

Diverse redundancy uses different technology, design, manufacture, software, firmware, etc., to reduce the influence of common-cause faults. Measures that can be used to achieve diverse redundancy include, but are not limited to, the use of different measurements (e.g., pressure and temperature) when there is a known relationship between them and the use of different measurement technologies for the same process variable (e.g., Coriolis flow and Vortex flow). An example of input diversity is the use of a Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD), Infrared (IR), or bimetal to achieve technology diversity in measuring temperature. An example of output diversity is closing a block valve and turning off a pump to stop flow. 

Nonlinear valves are an example of output conditioning. It is often the case that we do not want the valve position to move linearly with controller output The most common type of nonlinear control valves are of the equal percentage type, often used when controlling the flow of fluid from a centrifugal pump or compressor as shown in Figure 5.22.
