Aseptic Assembly. The first interventions performed are those that prepare the equipment for the aseptic process. This entails the removal of sterilized materials and equipment items from the autoclave and transfer to the location where the aseptic processing activities will be performed. The operator must be meticulous in their execution of these tasks to prevent the inadvertent contamination of product contact surfaces. Strict adherence to the principles of aseptic technique described earlier is essential. These interventions are a necessary part of every aseptic activity, and it is common to identify the first containers filled as they may be more indicative of potential problems with the aseptic assembly. For this reason, the validation program should include process simulations that include containers filled immediately after the set-up of the equipment. [Pg.132]

Periodic, scheduled facility safety inspections are essential in any operational area, especially where hazardous tasks are performed on a regular basis. Compliance with safety inspection requirements should not be difficult to accomplish since similar requirements should already exist in an established occupational safety program. The facility inspection encompasses all facets of daily operation and considers the human-machine interface a primary candidate area for potential mishaps. Frequent facility inspections are an excellent method of maintaining current awareness of facility conditions and how those conditions affect, or might affect, the safe operation of that facility. A system should be in place to ensure implementation of corrective actions and to track repetitive items. Results of inspections should be properly documented and accountability for discrepant items appropriately determined and assigned in order for the inspection process to be effective. If properly performed, the facility safety inspection is an excellent tool in the overall success of the system safety function. [Pg.33]

In a very successful metaphoric style, all items of the computer world that have to do with programs are called software, while all the rest (electronic parts, wires, input-output devices) are called hardware. Partly countering the intrinsic semantics of these two words, in the last years software has become much more expensive than hardware.
