Tadalafil, an erectile dysfunction drug (marketed by Lilly as CIAUS), contains an indole ring, a pyrazine ring, and a dioxole.

The trials were so successful that, when the trials were complete, patients were reluctant to turn in their unused medication. Some patients even falsely claimed to have flushed leftover pills down the toilet in order to keep the unused medication. Sildenafil was approved by the FDA in early 1997 under the trade name Viagra. Despite competition in the marketplace from other erectile dysfunction drugs, Viagra has been a blockbuster for Pfizer, with a peak sales of nearly US 2 biUion worldwide in 2008 [2]. 

Erectile dysfunction is treated by local or systemic application of vasodilator drugs. The most effective is sildenafil, a phosphodiesterase-type 5 inhibitor. 

Identify the drug classes most likely to contribute to erectile dysfunction.

If the patient is started on a 5a-reductase inhibitor, monitor the patient for drug-induced decreased libido, erectile dysfunction, or ejaculation disorders. If severe, discontinue the drug.
