Mixing, equipment safety

As the safety and quality of industrial components, equipments and constructions is correlated with the inspection sensitivity and this is influenced in radiography by the film system class, a continuous supervision of the film systems on the market seems to be urgently necessary. To support the confidence of the film users in the film properties specified by the film manufacturers such a system for quality assurance for industrial x-ray films is proposed by some manufacturers and BAM. This system will be open to all manufacturers, distributers and users of x-ray films. Accidents involving physical hazards can directly injure workers and can create additional hazards, for example, increased chemical exposure due to damaged protective equipment, or danger of explosion caused by the mixing of chemicals. Site personnel should constantly look out for potential safety hazards, and should immediately inform their supervisors of any new hazards so that proper action can be taken [1,21,31].

Safety regulations covering buildings, electrical and mechanical equipment installations should be strictly adhered to during the planning, construction and operation of an anaerobic digestion system. 

When no safer alternatives are available, reducing exposure becomes especially important. Usually, product labels will explain the recommended safety equipment and procedures appropriate for a particular product. In addition to safety gear, ventilation, and mixing precautions, labels may also mention storage requirements. Unfortunately, some label directions are not specific enough to ensure that following them will guarantee safe use. 

The results tend to verify the conclusions established earlier by Shell, that as long as mix temperatures are maintained below 300°F, concentrations of H S and SO are well within the safety limits suggested by the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists [ 29]. All of the field trials conducted both in the United States and Canada utilized conventional batch type hot mix plants and paving equipment. These field sections have been under post-construct ion evaluation for more than four years and are still performing satisfactorily.
