Cooling Equipment

Milk has been a source for food for humans since the beginning of recorded history. Although the use of fresh milk has increased with economic development, the majority of consumption occurs after milk has been heated, processed, or made into butter. The milk industry became a commercial enterprise when methods for preservation of fluid milk were introduced. The successful evolution of the dairy industry from small to large units of production, ie, the farm to the dairy plant, depended on sanitation of animals, products, and equipment cooling faciUties health standards for animals and workers transportation systems constmction materials for process machinery and product containers pasteurization and sterilization methods containers for distribution and refrigeration for products in stores and homes. [Pg.350]

Hydrants and monitors should be spaced so that they can be safely utilized during a fire such that the total firefighting and equipment cooling water requirements for each fire area can be delivered. Hydrants are generally spaced a maximum of 200 ft (60 m) apart in process areas. Greater spacing is allowable in tank farms [up to 300 ft (91 m)] and low hazard areas, such as utility blocks. Hydrants and monitors should be located a minimum of 50 ft (15 m) from any equipment to be protected. [Pg.173]

Deluge protection can be applied over the entire hazard area with open sprinkler heads located at various floor levels or fixed water spray systems can be applied specifically on the equipment to be protected. Specific water spray application is preferred because it provides better equipment cooling and reduces the water wasted due to wind and fire draft. [Pg.202]

First, as equipment cools, it can pull in air that will dissolve in any available water or moisture. (Fig. 1 shows that the solubility of oxygen increases as temperatures drop.) This aerated water is highly corrosive to boiler metals. During periods of intermittent operation, steam and condensate lines are in particular jeopardy. [Pg.47]

On rates and off rates are too fast to be experimentally determined without elaborate equipment. Cooling and/or lower concentrations of reactants (Ro, Lo) help. The quotient kotr/kon should be equal to the dissociation constant Kd (following the formulas in Figure 2.4 and 2.25, at d(RL)/dt = 0), and normally it is. If deviations are too large (larger than factor 2), this indicates methodical errors. [Pg.71]

MicroChannel heat sinks, such as a microchannel of square cross section with internal longitudinal fins, are an integral part of most devices used for thermal management in electronic equipment cooling. A thermodynamic analysis may help optimize the height of fin and thermophysical parameters, based on the minimizing the entropy generation rates due to heat transfer and fluid flow within the microchannel. [Pg.189]

As it was mentioned, the UNITHERM requires no major R D for technology development. At the same time, it is reasonable at this design stage to carry out R D for certain innovative systems and components of the design, such as the independent circuit for heat removal and systems for the reactor equipment cooling. [Pg.175]

Quality milk can be produced only when dairymen pay special attention to a number of factors among them, herd health, clean cows, care of the milking equipment, cooling and storage of milk, and proper transportation of milk to market. [Pg.707]

Figure 5 shows the average compartment temperature obtained during the test as well as the simulated equipment cooling air output temperature. Note that the cabin temperature is relatively insensitive to the simulated equipment heat load represented by the heater. [Pg.312]
