Sum Chi Lee received her B.A.Sc. and M.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Toronto. She has conducted environmental research at various government organizations and the University of Toronto. Her research activities have included establishing the physical-chemical properties of organochlorines and understanding the sources, trends, and behavior of persistent organic pollutants in the atmosphere of the Canadian Arctic. 

MOREHyS was developed by the German-French Institute for Environmental Research (DFIU/IFARE), in Karlsruhe (Germany), in co-operation with the Fraunhofer Institute for System and Innovation Research (ISI) (Karlsruhe) (Ball, 2006 Ball el al., 2006 Kienzle, 2005). Software offered with version 4.1 of ProLogP and ProLogD attempts to calculate log D values from structure. This can be very difficult for the ionizable portions of many heterocycles which are common to pharmaceutical chemistry. For the more common acids and bases encountered in environmental research, the results may be satisfactory and, at times, very helpful. The nature of study objectives in environmental research is often multivariate. Several pollutant patterns from different, sometimes unknown, sources may occur. The state of pollution of a sampling point, line, or area in any environmental compartment, whether atmosphere, water, soil, or biota, depends mostly on the nature of the different sources of pollution. Stack emissions are characterized by a multi-element pattern. Waste water effluents contain different contaminants, ranging from heavy metals to cocktails of organic compounds.
