Electrochemical properties of various transition metal oxides for energy storage... [Pg.633]

These results illustrate that electrochemical techniques can be employed to synthesize a vast range of [Si(Pc)0]n-based molecular metals/conductive polymers with wide tunability in optical, magnetic, and electrical properties. Moreover, the structurally well-defined and well-ordered character of the polymer crystal structure offers the opportunity to explore structure/electro-chemical/collective properties and relationships to a depth not possible for most other conductive polymer systems. On a practical note, the present study helps to define those parameters crucial to the fabrication, from cheap, robust phthalocyanines, of efficient energy storage devices. [Pg.233]

Apart from the promising electrochemical properties that will be exhaustively discussed through this chapter, carbon nanotubes have become a hot research topic due to their outstanding electronic, mechanical, thermal, optical and chemical properties and their biocompatibility. Near- and long-term innovative applications can be foreseen including nanoelectronic and nanoelectromechanical devices, held emitters, probes, sensors and actuators as well as novel materials for mechanical reinforcement, fuel cells, batteries, energy storage, (bio)chemical separation, purification and catalysis [20]. [Pg.117]

Mechanism of energy storage is based on lithium insertion and extraction from the host structure, therefore atomic arrangements of lithium atoms have a direct effect on electrochemical properties. [Pg.179]

Also, discussions of a number of applications of Nafion are not included in this document and are, at most, mentioned within the context of a particular study of fundamental properties. A number of these systems are simply proposed rather than in actual commercial applications. Membranes in fuel cells, electrochemical energy storage systems, chlor-alkali cells, water electrolyzers, Donnan dialysis cells, elec-trochromic devices, and sensors, including ion selective electrodes, and the use of these membranes as a strong acid catalyst can be found in the above-mentioned reviews. [Pg.299]

Redox cycled polymers, which electrochemically doped and dedoped, are used for energy storage (batteries) and when one wants to have a property tuned by a potential. For instance, in the case of smart windows the color or absorbance of a glass window can be controlled electrically. [Pg.526]
