Energy booster

Ephedrine was a popular ingredient in many diet pills and muscle and energy boosters for decades. Ephedrine-based products were marketed to teenagers and young adults as having the ability to produce euphoria (feelings of pleasure) and increased sexual sensations, energy, and alertness. However, over the last decade, scientists have linked ephedrine use to numerous heart attacks, strokes, and deaths. [Pg.68]

There are so many great natural energy boosters that you ll never need to rely on acid-forming coffee for an artificial boost of nervous energy. Instead, try these quick pick-me-ups ... [Pg.91]

Lemon water Pour yourself a large glass of pure, alkaline water and add the juice of a whole fresh lemon. This is a great energy booster that helps lessen pain and improve immunity by going to the source of these problems— excess acidity. If this is too tart for your taste, guickly turn it into lemonade with a few drops of stevia. [Pg.92]

Products and Uses A herbal stimulant found in asthma drugs and decongestants. Frequently promoted for weight reduction and energy booster. Commonly combined with caffeine. [Pg.125]

Ephedrine, isolated from Ephedra sinica, is the major active constituent of this plant species. It is used in the treatment of asthma, nasal congestion, and as a prophylactic to avoid hypotension associated with spinal anesthesia for cesarean section [55]. Herbal products containing Ephedra are used as antiobesity agents and energy boosters despite reports on serious side-effects, such as hypertension, seizures, myocardial infarction [56]. The 15,2/ -(- -)-enantiomer of ephedrine is not present in the plant. [Pg.378]

Tetiyl. 2,4,6-Trinitrophenylmethylm tramine (tetryl) was used ia pressed form, mostly as a booster explosive and as a base charge ia detonators and blasting caps because of its sensitivity to initiation by primary explosives and its relatively high energy content. Properties are presented ia Table 11 (173). Batch and continuous processes for the production of tetryl have been developed. Tetryl is no longer used ia the United States and has been replaced by RDX (174-178). [Pg.16]

The methane warms to 10°C. It then passes through the booster compressors on the expansion turbine shaft, increasing in pressure from 325 psi to 375 psi before being introduced into other gas compressors tliat boost the pressure back up to 600 psi. This is the pressure needed for reintroduction of the natural gas back into the TransCanada pipeline. This 50 psi boost, which makes use of available energy from the expansion turbines, provides a significant savings in electrical power. [Pg.454]

In some applications (usually high pressure compressors using oil film seals) alternative pump schemes should be considered. It may be that the desired seal pressure is not achievable by one set of pumps or the quantity required by the seal is small relative to the main pump capacity. There are (imes when booster pumps are needed however, if the reason is energy, it would be worth reviewing the economics very carefully, because reliability tends to suffer with the booster. The booster pumps are paired into a main and standby and are configured to take suction fro lower pressure system. Sufficient interlocks have to be supplied drivers so that if the main pumps shutdown, the boosters come ... [Pg.312]

The task of synthesizing an optimal RON can be stated as follows For a given feed flowrate, Qf. and a feed concentration, Cp. it is desired to synthesize a minimum cost system of reverse osmosis modules, booster pumps and energy-recovery turbines Chat can separate the feed into two streams an environmentally acceptable permeate and a retentate (reject) stream in which the undesired species is concentrated. The permeate stream must meet two requirements ... [Pg.273]

The three major cost elements for pipelines are (1) construction costs (e.g., materials, labour, booster station, if needed, and others), (2) operation and maintenance costs (e.g., monitorisa-tion, maintenance, energy costs) and (3) other costs (design, insurance, fees, and right-of-way). [Pg.93]

This group covers aromatic nuclei bearing one nitro group most mono-nitro benzenes can be persuaded to detonate by a tetryl booster few are an immediate danger in tbe absence of other sources of energy. Calorimetric studies [1] suggest tbat nitroaiyl compounds decompose by an autocatalytic mechanism, and thus stability may depend upon thermal history. Individually indexed compounds are ... [Pg.272]
