Enamel glaze

Schmelz, m. enamel, glaze fusion, melting, melt (Zinc) blue powder. 

Bismuth subnitrate (BiNO ) is used in the cosmetics industry and to make ceramic and enamel glazes. 

Lead monoxide has wide commercial apphcations. It is used in lead-sulfuric acid type storage battery plates in optical and electrical glasses in vitreous enamels, glazes, and fine tableware in lead soaps for varnishes as a vul-... 

All these compounds are fused together, and sometimes yield a blackish mass but when ground and applied to the wares, they appear as a white enamel glazing. 

Properties White powder. Insoluble in water. Efficient flux in glasses containing zirconium dioxide. Recommended as a flux in zirconium-opacified enamels, glazes, and porcelains. 

Use Ceramics (enamels, glazes) lubricants paints and varnishes (antichalking agent, minimizer of moisture and solar radiation effects). 

USE Usual source of water-soluble cobalt since it is the most economical and it shows less tendency to deliquesc or dehydrate than the chloride Or nitrate. Used in storage batteries in Co-electroplating baths as drier for lithographic inks, varnishes in ceramics, enamels, glazes to prevent discoloring in Co pigments for decorating porcelain.

Lithium Compounds Lithium carbonate, which is obtained iiom lithium ore, is the primary source of other lithium compounds. Significant quantities of lithium carbonate are also used in the preparation of porcelain enamels, glazes, and special glass. When purified, the carbonate is used as a source of lithium ion for the treatment of manic-depressive disorders. The physiological action of lithium ion in this treatment is not completely understood, although lithium ion is known to inhibit certain biochemical reactions involved in hormone action. 

The cost of 99.9% erbium metal is about 21/g. Erbium is finding nuclear and metallurgical uses. Added to vanadium, for example, erbium lowers the hardness and improves workability. Most of the rare-earth oxides have sharp absorption bands in the visible, ultraviolet, and near infrared. This property, associated with the electronic structure, gives beautiful pastel colors to many of the rare-earth salts. Erbium oxide gives a pink color and has been used as a colorant in glasses and porcelain enamel glazes.
