I/O. All the I/O (apart from EC probes) are cormected on this board. It is then easier to manage EMC problems, and to make the cabling. As the I/O board is very simple, it is easy to customise it for users who want specific IP modules. 

Small size, ruggedness, simple cabling and the ability to operate the equipment under adverse conditions in the field has also been design goals. The system should also conform with the regulations necessary for the CE-marking (i. e. standards and directives for EMC, Electrical Safety and Machine Safety). 

During recent years European directives (machine-, EMC and electric safety directives) in connection with the C 6-marking has imposed new requirements to scarmer systems concerning mechanical and electric safety, documentation, manuals and EMC. 

Another mining process involves the recovery of sodium carbonate decahydrate from alkaline ponds. EMC mines this material from its solar evaporation pond using a bucket wheel dredge. The decahydrate slurry is dewatered, melted, and processed to soda ash. 

Sodium Hydroxide. Before World War 1, nearly all sodium hydroxide [1310-93-2], NaOH, was produced by the reaction of soda ash and lime. The subsequent rapid development of electrolytic production processes, resulting from growing demand for chlorine, effectively shut down the old lime—soda plants except in Eastern Europe, the USSR, India, and China. Recent changes in chlorine consumption have reduced demand, putting pressure on the price and availabiHty of caustic soda (NaOH). Because this trend is expected to continue, there is renewed interest in the lime—soda production process. EMC operates a 50,000 t/yr caustic soda plant that uses this technology at Green River it came onstream in mid-1990. Other U.S. soda ash producers have aimounced plans to constmct similar plants (1,5).

The first commercial-scale anthrahydroquinone autoxidation process in the United States was put into operation by E. I. du Pont de Nemours Co., Inc. (Memphis, Tennessee) in 1953, followed by EMC Corporation (West Virginia), LaPorte Chemicals, Ltd. (U.K.), Degussa (Germany), Mitsubishi-Gas Chemical Co. (Japan), and others.

Calcium peroxide is made by EMC, L Air Liquide, Nippon Peroxide (Japan), Shimakyo Chemical (Japan), Solvay Deutschland, Solvay Interox (United Kingdom), and Tomita Seiyaku (Japan). Trade names used for calcium peroxide are Calper, IXPER 60 C, IXPER 75 C, PermeOx, and Trap2ene. The world market for calcium peroxide ia 1992 was about 2000 t. The U.S. prices ia 1994 were, for the food-grade (75% Ca02), 3.97/kg and for the technical grade (60%), 2.97—3.30/kg. 

Biocides. Two phosphine derivatives are ia commercial use as biocides. These are tetrakis(hydroxymethyl)phosphonium sulfate [55566-30-8] and tributyl(tetradecyl)phosphonium chloride [8741-28-8]. These compounds are sold by Albright and Wilson Ltd. and EMC, respectively. The preparation... 

Diallyl Isophthalate. DAIP polymerizes faster than DAP, undergoes less cyclization, and yields cured polymers of better heat resistance, eg, up to ca 200°C. Prepolymer molding materials such as Dapon M of EMC, are not sticky. Maleic anhydride accelerates polymerization, whereas vinyl isobutyl ether retards it and delays gelation in castings. Copolymers with maleic anhydride are exceptionally hard and tough and may scratch homopolymer surfaces.
