Electronic medical records review

The investigator in the institution conducting the study should be aware of what happens to the medical records of study subjects who have participated in clinical trials. The medical authorities or the institution should have guidelines for the retention of records before they are changed into an electronic form by scanning, microfiched or destroyed. Enrollees were asked to submit to a series of performance and health effects measures. Tests included the Global Assessment System for Humans/ Behavioral Assessment and Research System (GASH/BARS), the Postural Sway Test, the Eye Blink Conditioned Response Test and the Electroretino-gram (ERG). Subjects were also asked complete an electronically administered questionnaire. Medical records were reviewed for pertinent health events occurring during the preceding year. 

The interaction task includes the set of lower-level interactions that are performed by the human and product to accomphsh the apphcation task that may also be at different levels. For example, the application-level goal of reviewing a medical record may involve the interaction-level task of retrieving the record from an electronic database. The retrieval task, in turn, entails lower-level interaction tasks of search that involves the still lower-level task of formulating a proper search query. Each level of tasks may impose cognitive demands. 

This chapter reviews recent eEmergency systems, including the wireless technologies used, as well as the data transmitted (electronic patient record, biosignals, medical images and video, and others).
