Effect on superconducting properties

We will not cover the optical properties of superconducting A3C60 salts, either, both because the theoretical implications of the Jahn-Teller effect on superconductivity has been extensively discussed [32] and because experimental spectra in these compounds concentrate on electronic effects [33] and vibrational spectra have not been discussed in detail, partly because of the interference with the background of free electrons. [Pg.497]

The effect of hydrogen absorption on superconductive properties was studied on relatively few compounds. These comprise ThyFej (Malik et al., 1978a), CeCo2 (Buschow and Sherwood, 1978), several La-Ni compounds (Oesterreicher et al., 1976) and several Th-R alloys (Oesterreicher et al., 1977). In all cases it was found that the absorption of hydrogen gas leads to disappearance or lowering of the superconducting state. [Pg.80]

There are presently four famihes of high-temperature superconductors under investigation for practical magnet appheations. Table 11-25 shows that all HTS are copper oxide ceramics even though the oxygen content may vary. However, this variation generally has little effect on the phvsical properties of importance to superconductivity. [Pg.1127]

The electrical properties of insulators for superconducting magnets are of crucial importance in relation to the operational reliability of fusion reactors [81], In the present section, the characteristics in original electrical properties of polymers at cryogenic temperatures are briefly introduced and then the effects of radiation on these properties are surveyed. [Pg.136]
