Acryhcs and modacryhcs are also useflil industrial fibers. Fibers low in comonomer content, such as Dolan 10 and Du Font s PAN Type A, have exceptional resistance to chemicals and very good dimensional stabihty under hot—wet conditions. Many improvements have been made to streamline performance and to reduce machine operation labor. Brysson and co-workers (7) conducted a study in St. Louis, Missouri, on the effects of urban air pollution on the tensile strength of cotton duck material. Samples were exposed at seven locations for up to 1 year. Figure 9-3 shows the relationship between tensile strength and pollutant exposure. For two levels of ambient air exposure, the materials exhibited less than one-half their initial tensile strength when exposed to air pollution for 1 year. [Pg.131]

Shortcut equipment design methods are difficult to define. I was asked to speak at a session on Shortcut Equipment Design Methods at the 1985 ASEE Annual Conference in Atlanta, Georgia.
