DRAINAGE PIPE

Horizontal Rotating Pan Filters. These filters (Fig. 10) represent a further development of the tipping pan filter for continuous operation. They consist of a circular pan rotating around the central filter valve. The pan is divided into wedge-shaped sections covered with the filter medium. Vacuum is appHed from below. Each section is provided with a drainage pipe which connects to a rotary filter valve of the same type as in dmm filters. 

For top-feed applications, the most convenient assembly is that shown in Fig. 18-95. The depth of the dam must, of course, be sufficient to contain the total quantity of feed shiny required for the test. Since the test leaf is mounted on top of the vacuum receiver, it is nec-essaiy to provide a valve between the test leaf and the receiver so that the desired operating vacuum may be obtained in the receiver before the start of a test run. It is imperative, however, that there be no restriction in this valve. The preferred choice is a ball valve with the full bore of the drainage piping. 

Perforated drainage pipes have the advantage of common usage and design, and they transmit fluids rapidly. They do, however, require considerable vertical space and are susceptible to particulate... 

It is probably beneficial to a passive system to lay a network of perforated drainage pipes in the gravel bed beneath the slab prior to the pour. The use of horizontal pipe runs and elbows in a passive system may greatly lessen the effectiveness the system and should be a voided. Some builders use a 6-in. PVC pipe in a passive system to help lessen the pressure drop. 

Leaf and grass bags, upholstery, bottles, drainage pipe, roofing, flooring, coated fabrics, and siding are all made from polyvinyl chloride, PVC is the consumer product plastic. 

This suggests that the pressure in a water drain can get so low, that air could be sucked out of the bathroom and down the drain. Of course, we all see this happen several times a day—typically when we flush a toilet. So much air is drawn into the water drainage piping, that we install vents on our roofs, to release this air. The only requirement, then, for vapors to be drawn into a flowing nozzle is for the nozzle exit loss to be larger than the static head of liquid above the nozzle. 

The die produces a column of clay with the desired form and a steel wire cuts it in individual parts. Products made by an extruder bricks (both perforated and not), hollow bricks, large building blocks, drainage pipes, sewer pipes, riven slabs, tiles and roof tiles. The extruder requires the use of a plastic clay. The baked product is characterized by its square shape and smooth surface. 

Draining a polymerization tank. When draining a polymerization tank or a mixing vessel, a vortex forms, starting at the surface and moving toward the drainage pipe as schematically depicted in Fig. 4.16. 

This equipment consists of a horizontal axis revolving drum. The surface of the drum is segmented, with compartments fitted with drainage pipes leading inside the drum to a common manifold and a rotary valve located at one end of the drum. A filter medium is attached to the external surface of the drum. When the drum is mounted with part of its surface in a tank of slurry, the application of a vacuum behind the filter medium pulls the filtrate through. The solid material is retained on the filter surface and, as the drum turns slowly past a knife, is dislodged into a collection hopper for disposal or further treatment. 

Most of the flooded oil in the premises remained in the refinery, retained by the dikes there for flood prevention, but part of the oil that came through storm drains into the guard basin flooded out over the sea bypassing the gaps of dampers and drainage pipes.The refinery immediately extended oil-fences to prevent the further extension of the oil spill, and almost all leaked oil was recovered in a week. 

A developer is constructing typical single-family homes. Each home can accommodate a family of four persons. Estimate the size of the drainage pipe to convey the sewage from each home to the wastewater collection... 

A high-rise apartment building complex is 20 stories high. Each floor has 10 apartments occupied by families of 6. Calculate the size of the main drainage pipe to convey the sewage to the collection system. 

The School of Engineering at Morgan State University has about 800 students. Design the drainage pipe used to convey the wastewater produced to the collection system of the city of Baltimore. 

Note Six scenarios are called D scenarios (drainage) because, after release of die pesticide, it may enter the neighboring water body via spray drift deposition and water flow through drainage pipes. In die four R scenarios (runoff) pesticide may enter the water body via spray drift deposition and runoff plus erosion.

The cylinder is divided into compartments like pieces of a pie (see Fig 2), and drainage pipes carry fluid from the cylinder surface to an internal manifold. 

The presence of a trench/pipe system in Option B, used to remove rain accumulations, increases the risk that contaminated fire water might be inadvertently discharged into the sanitary sewer system. In order to reduce this risk, it is necessary to install a motorized valve in the drainage piping. This valve could be arranged to close automatically in the event of a fire through a signal from the fire alarm panel and manually as needed. It may also be desirable to use a valve which will automatically close in the event of loss of power. Alternatively, this valve could be normally closed and opened when needed.
