Doubled haploid lines

The utility of doubled haploid lines in barley breeding programs have been demonstrated, and a number of cultivars have been developed using this system. Microspore culture in barley has been improved more than in other cereals and thus is preferred for investigations such as microspore transformation. [Pg.299]

HPLC is also useful in genetic studies of other cereals. Devaux et al. [174] used RP-HPLC to analyze B- and C-hordeins from barley doubled haploid lines... [Pg.573]

St T was a double haploid line of Stellar. Certified seeds of the French variety Drakkar (Drk C) were used as high linolenic acid control. [Pg.522]

We have obtained a double haploid mutant line of B. napus that is similar in lipid and fatty add composition at 2 C but which shows lower levels of chloroplast lipids and trienoic acids (18 3 and 16 3) at low temperature (5 C). With the low trienoic fatty acids there is a concomitant increase in the dienoic fatty acids. This is the reverse of the normal situation where plants grown at constant low temperature increase the level of trienoic fatty acids. [Pg.376]

Similar Imes have also been isolated from double haploid mutant lines that show a correlation between the level of 18 3 in PC at 5 C and the 18 3 level of the seed oil (2.5-12 wt%, measured at approx. 20°C). These multiple mutants respond in varying degrees to low temperature induction of desaturation in PC in the leaves and appear to effect the level of 18 3 in the seed oil. [Pg.377]
