Double Dome

Stanley Owsley entered the trade after having been frustrated in his efforts to obtain pure LSD. His trademarks—"White Lightning, "Purple Haze —and others such as "Batman, "Purple Double-Domes and "Midnight Hour —were assodated with "tabs of high quality. An enormous amount of this production was given away, yet Owsley became perhaps the first LSD millionaire. When he was captured in 1967,200 fresh grams—a million substantial doses—were confiscated. [Pg.144]

Conventional dome-placement systems require a mechanism to detect double domes, but pick-up nozzles in the parallel placement system can be equipped with laser and vacuum sensors to detect double domes, and to check that the dome is placed correctly. The presence of the dome is checked during movement to the placement position, and the nozzle design ensures that the dome is supported fully for protection during placement. [Pg.30]

LNG tanks use low pressure (less than 5 psi), yet need double-wall construction so that insulation between the walls keeps the LNG cool. For the large tanks, a cylindrical design with a domed roof is used, but for smaller quantities (70,000 gallons or less), storage is in horizontal or vertical vacuum-jacketed tanks at pressures any where from less than 5 psi to over 250 psi. [Pg.832]

The overall conceptual layout of the pulsed dye laser LGS system is shown in Fig. 18. A thermally insulated room located on the dome floor houses much of the laser system to minimize vibrations on the telescope and the heat dissipated within the dome. The enclosure houses 6 frequency-doubled Nd YAG pump lasers, the DM0, the associated laser electronics and diagnostics, the... [Pg.233]

The applications are, for example, skylights, domes, veranda roofs in simple or double-wall sheets of polycarbonate, exterior spotlights, waterproofed lights, globes. [Pg.78]

The Greek word y was used also for the dome-shaped receiver of glass placed over distilling apparatus to act as a condenser of vapors. See Borthclot, Introduction, pp. 132-134. The word thus conveys a double sense, a popular and a technical concept. [Pg.163]

Since helium and neon have boiling points considerably below that of nitrogen, these gases will collect on the nitrogen side of the condenser-reboiler associated with the double-column air separation system. Recovery of these gases is accomplished by periodic venting of a small portion of the gas from the dome of the condenser and transfer to a small condenser-rectifier refrigerated with... [Pg.180]

In an electrolyzer with double plate electrodes (design Fauser) each electrode is composed of two parallel plates (the anodes are nickel-plated) suspended by bolt V in the dome N or U, situated over the gas collecting bell O (see Fig. 69). From each bell hangs the diaphragm H, made as a narrow long bag which can be closed or opened at the bottom. The current is conducted to each electrode by nickel-plated copper strips P. The hydrogen collected in the dome N flows... [Pg.214]

Three-piece aerosol cans are constructed by seaming a cone onto the body of a twopiece built-up tinplate can. The can itself is constructed in a similar way to an open top can but with a strengthened locked and lapped side seam so that it will withstand internal pressure. The base of the container is domed upwards for the same reason and is invariably compound-lined and double seamed onto the side wall. [Pg.301]

A final complication is the fact that closure systems (particularly those which assist in the dispensing or administration of a product) are becoming more complex and more sophisticated. The list which follows indicates many of the various closures and closure systems which are available for both primary and secondary packs as seals or closures can be temporary or permanent, certain packs may have a series of closures created by the way in which they are converted or manufactured. A tinplate built-up aerosol container, for example, has four permanent seals, i.e. welded or soldered side seam, a cone and a dome held to the container body by double seams, a swaged-in valve cup, and an operational valve system (the in-use closure). Some of the systems will therefore be described in further detail. [Pg.327]
