Distribution undetermined

No studies were located regarding toxicokinetic data in humans. Limited information is available regarding the toxicokinetic differences among animal species. Rats, mice, mink, and dogs showed rapid absorption, wide distribution, and over 90% urinary excretion of diisopropyl methylphosphonate or its metabolites. However, the rates of absorption and patterns of distribution varied (Hart 1976 Weiss et al. 1994). The mechanism of toxicity is also undetermined. From the limited data available, it is not possible to determine the degree of correlation between humans and animals. [Pg.79]

Derivation of the Boltzmann distribution function is based on statistical mechanical considerations and requires use of Stirling s approximation and Lagrange s method of undetermined multipliers to arrive at the basic equation, (N,/No) = (g/go)exp[-A Ae/]. The exponential term /3 defines the temperature scale of the Boltzmann function and can be shown to equal t/ksT. In classical mechanics, this distribution is defined by giving values for the coordinates and momenta for each particle in three-coordinate space and the lin-... [Pg.95]

The important aspect of (13.70b) is that each pa=Pa(U, V, N) has maximal ( most probable ) character with respect to the natural control variables of S. The constrained maximization procedure to find this optimal distribution by the method of Lagrange undetermined multipliers [see Schrodinger (1949), Sidebar 13.4, for further details] is very similar to that described in Section 5.2. In particular, the pa must be maximal with respect to variations in each control variable, leading to the usual second-derivative curvature conditions such as... [Pg.448]

It appears that, except in the case of the elements magnesium and sulphur, the calculated values in column three do not differ from the observed values by as much as two per cent. Considering the fact that the equations contain no undetermined constants after the distribution law has been fixed and considering the fact that various influences have been neglected, such as magnetic forces, forces due to electrons in outer orbits, the possible influence of electrons which may be forming bonds with other atoms, etc., the dose agreement between the calculated and observed values appears extraordinary. [Pg.7]

To repeat, sampling must be done uniformly and at equal intervals for the probabihty distribution analysis to be applicable. Otherwise, the apphcahon of the method will be difficult, since the probabihty of each element wih be undetermined or, if determinable, is calculated with difficulty. Of course, the probabihty of each element can always be assumed equal, even if the sampling is irregular. If you see this done in practice, the concept upon which the probabihty distribution analysis is based has been violated and you are guaranteed that whatever is the result, it is wrong. [Pg.136]

However, there are two possible diflSculties in determining A lO by physical absorption. First, the flow patterns and residence-time distributions of the phases may be undetermined (Cao is not a known function of CX), hence the value of ki a cannot be deduced from . Second, in efiicient contacting devices the gas and liquid may approach equilibrium quite closely. The determination oik a depends on the difference between the actual and the equilibrium extent and necessitates extremely accurate measurement of the flow rates. [Pg.41]

Clarke et al. (1977) and Torgerson and Clarke (1978) also showed that the excess He concentrations were accompanied by decreases in He/ He ratios, confirming the radiogenic origin of the He. However, the determination of this ratio does not seem to provide much additional information for the considerable extra difficulty involved. These authors attempted calculations as to the source of He in terms of the mass and probable distribution of the U parent. However, even where He measurements provide accurate time constraints, such calculations are inconclusive the mechanisms by which He enters the lakes are unknown and the relative importance of unmineralised faults in granitic terrain and pegmatite mineralisation as He sources are undetermined. [Pg.337]

Since the molecular weight of the polymer is often undetermined or has a wide distribution, the use of mole fraction activity coefficients has many inherent difficulties. Patterson et al. (27) proposed the use of weight fraction activity coefficients, which is now standard practice. It is recommanded that all IGC data on polymers be reported this way. [Pg.23]

Development of novel antianginal therapy has suffered from the lack of predictive animal models. Some of the more interesting newer approaches include direct measurement of myocardial oxygen tension.electrocardiographic analysis in normal 5.>W> and diseased hearts,4-7 regional vascular resistance studies, blood flow distribution 9>50 and functional evaluation in normal hearts5l as well as in animals subjected to chronic coronary artery occlusion.52,53 The clinical predictability of these models remains undetermined. [Pg.44]

The functional significance of the high EL expression in lung, placenta and thyroid is undetermined. Hirata et al. [4] noted that the distribution of EL in lung, as detected by in situ hybridization, suggested that EL expression may be locahzed to type 11 alveolar epithelial cells, which synthesize surfactant, a phosphatidylcholine-rich substance. EL might be involved in surfactant metabohsm. [Pg.142]

The restricted pattern of SCNSA is novel and contrasts with the more diffuse expression of other Na ion channel al subunits (Felts et al 1997, Whitaker et al 2000), predicting a specific but as yet undetermined role in regulating excitability and synchronization within these circuits. This uneven spatial distribution pattern of Na+ channel al subunit expression, mirrors a similar range of expression patterns of al subunits for voltage-gated Ca- channels. [Pg.112]

The ammonium ion source is also largely undetermined. The concentration pattern shown in Figure 2 suggests a relationship to the large feed lots associated with the cattle industry of the central Plains region. However, this possible source has not been measured, but only surmised from the geographical relationship between the maximum concentration and the known feed lot distribution. In one sense, the distribution of ammonium in precipitation has a natural source, but somewhat controlled by man. [Pg.28]
