Distribution factors

The sorption of ions of heavy metals (Cu(II), Zn(II), Cr(VI), Cd(II), Pb(II)) on ChCS in static and dynamic conditions were studied. For an estimation of selective sorbate ability ChCS the distribution factor was determined. Sorption, physical and chemical properties of complexes received by different methods were analyzed by a compai ative method. [Pg.288]

In equation 1.14, z, P/(pg), and u2/(2ga) are the static, pressure and velocity heads respectively and hf is the head loss due to friction. The dimensionless velocity distribution factor a is for laminar flow and approximately 1 for turbulent flow. [Pg.140]

In addition to the two model substances, Table V includes similar data on two water soluble pollutants. For phenol, the hepatic compartment at 4 hrs. contained both a large concentration and a high percentage of the administered dose. As is indicated by the urine and kidney levels, the importance of the renal route is evident. While there are no other unique distributional factors noted for phenol from these data, the fact that after 24 hrs. only about 30% of the administered radioactive compound is accounted for, as well as other known properties of phenol, suggests that it may be excreted via the gills (28) or through the skin. [Pg.250]

The suggested bulk material factors are applied to direct equipment costs, whereas the bulk labor factors apply to the corresponding bulk material item. Because the distributive factors are based on larger scale field built plants, FETC applies an additional factory fabrication adjustment to reflect a more modular construction approach requiring less field fabrication as would likely be the case with smaller plant configurations. This approach is illustrated in reference (18). [Pg.320]

The extent of gas-to-aerosol conversion of secondary pollutants can be estimated by measuring gas particle distribution factors for carbon, nitrogen, and sulfur species. For example, /c = P/ P + G), where P = particulate organic carbon ng/m as carbon) and G = gas-phase... [Pg.52]

By conventional tests, secondary amine analogues of 4-phenylpiperidine analgesics lack activity (normorphine is equi-potent with morphine by the intra-cisternal route [48]) many secondary bases of the thebaines,(VII), however, are morphine-like analgesics. These findings lend support to the view that the low potencies reported for many nor-analogues of analgesics are due to distribution factors and not to the failure of such derivatives to associate at the receptor. [Pg.235]

The Fermi-distribution factor in Eq. (14.2), imposes another limit on spectroscopic resolution. At room temperature, ksT. Ol eV. The spread of the energy distribution of the sample is IkeT O.OSl eV. The spread of the energy distribution of the tip is also IksT O.OSl eV. The total deviation is LE AkeT OA eV. [Pg.301]

He defined a shape factor f as the ratio of the average volume of all particles having a maximum linear dimension equal to the mesh size of a screen to that of a cube which will just pass the same screen, f = 1.00 for cubes and 0.524 for spheres. For most materials f 0.5. The particle size distribution factor g is the ratio of the upper size... [Pg.50]

Equations (5.68-5.72) and (5.61) form a set of simultaneous equations for the unknown temperatures, Tc, Ta, T°ut, Tf, 7y ut, and the heat distribution factor a for one cell of the stack. Writing similar equations for all cells in the stack will result in a larger system of simultaneous equations. The equations for neighboring cells are coupled through heat conduction terms. Cell power, voltage, heat generation factor, utilizations of hydrogen and methane and inlet temperatures and concentrations of fuel and air for each cell are the input parameters for the model. [Pg.147]

A conical hopper of a half angle 20° and an angle of wall friction 25° is used to store a cohesionless material of bulk density 1,900 kg/m3 and an angle of internal friction 45°. The top surface of the material lies at a level 3.0 m above the apex and is free of loads. Apply Walker s method to determine the normal and shear stresses on the wall at a height of 1.2 m above the apex if the angle between the major principal plane at that height and the hopper wall is 30°. Assume a distribution factor of 1.1. [Pg.369]

Equations for the potency of P450 inhibitors were also presented by Lewis et al. (2001). Such relationships relate to metabolism in in vitro systems rather than whole organisms. They represent one component that needs to be integrated with absorption and distribution factors. [Pg.221]
