Materials Required Magnesium sulphate heptahydrate 0.3 g strong ammonia-ammonium chloride solution (6.75 g NH4C1 in 74.0 ml strong ammonia solution add water q.s. to produce to 100 ml) 0.05 M disodium edetate Mordant Black II mixture (mixture of 0.2 part mordant black II with 100 parts of NaCl) 0.1 g. 

Procedure Weigh accurately about 0.3 g of magnesium sulphate heptahydrate and dissolve in 50 ml of DW. Add to it 10 ml of strong ammonia-ammonium chloride solution, and titrate with 0.05 M disodium ethylenediaminetetracetate employing 0.1 g of mordant black II mixture as indicator, until the pink colour is discharged from the blue. Each ml of 0.05 M disodium ethylenediaminetetracetate is equivalent to 0.00602 g of MgS04.

Prepare a solution of 25 g ammonium molybdate in 450 ml distilled water. Add, with stirring, 21 ml concentrated sulfuric acid and 25 ml of distilled water containing 3 g disodium hydrogen arsenate heptahydrate. Continue stirring 24 hr at 37°C, then store the solution in a 1 liter glass-stoppered brown bottle up to 6 months at room temperature. 

Assay Dissolve about 175 mg of the monohydrate, or about 300 mg of the heptahydrate, accurately weighed, in 100 mL of water, add 5 mL of ammonia-ammonium chloride buffer TS and 0.1 mL of eriochrome black TS, and titrate with 0.05 M disodium EDTA until the solution turns deep blue. Each milliliter of 0.05 M disodium EDTA is equivalent to 8.973 mg of ZnS04H20, or 14.38 mg of ZnS04-7H20. 

A 1-liter stainless reactor was charged with 450 ml of water, ammonium perfluorononante (3.0 g), disodium phosphate heptahydrate (2.0 g), ammonium persulfate (0.4 g), and vinyl acetate (5.0 g).
