Discrete organic chemical

Clements RG, Nabholz JV, Zeeman MG, Auer CM. 1995. The application of structure-activity relationships (SARs) in the aquatic toxicity evaluation of discrete organic chemicals. SAR (Q)SAR Env Res 3 203-215. [Pg.330]

The validation process enabled the Danish EPA to state that, the (QSAR) models used here are now so reliable that they are able to predict whether a given substance has one or more of the properties selected with an accuracy of approximately 70-85%. In addition to the use described above, the Danish EPA has developed a QSAR database that contains predicted data on more than 166,000 substances (OSPAR Commission, 2000). The Danish EPA used a suite of commercially available and proprietary QSARs for environmental and human health endpoints (see those listed in Table 19.5). The predictions were made off-line and were stored in a database (derived from the CHEM-X software). The database was searchable by Chemical Abstract Service (CAS) number or chemical name. Only discrete organic chemicals can be stored in the database. [Pg.425]

For example, Pakistan stated that [ijncrease in emphasis on verification and inspection of facilities producing relatively harmless discrete organic chemicals (DOCs) should not be at the expense of higher risk Schedule 1, 2 and 3 chemicals listed in the Annex to the CWC. See Statement to the First Special Session of the Conference of... [Pg.70]

Given the above mentioned impact of past developments in chemical technology and industry on military CW production programmes, verifying the permitted uses of toxic chemicals and related facilities had to assume an important role in the overall verification system of the CWC. Activities not prohibited under the CWC are dealt with in Article VI of the Convention and in Parts VI to IX of the CWC s Verification Annex. While the first three of these parts are informed by the subdivision of toxic chemicals into Schedules 1 to 3, Part IX of the Verification Annex deals with other, unlisted, chemicals -so-called discrete organic chemicals or DOCs - and other chemical production facilities (OCPF), which might be easily adaptable to CW production. [Pg.29]

Discrete Organic Chemical means any chemical belonging to the class of chemical compounds consisting of all compoimds of carbon except for its oxides, sulfides and metal carbonates, identifiable by chemical name, by stmctural formula, if known, and by Chemical Abstracts Service registry number, if assigned. [Pg.34]

With regard to plant sites listed pursuant to paragraph 1 (a), the list shall also include information on the approximate aggregate amount of production of the unscheduled discrete organic chemicals in the previous calendar year expressed in the ranges under 1,000 tonnes, 1,000 to 10,000 tonnes and above 10,000 tonnes. [Pg.83]

The term unscheduled discrete organic chemical referred to in paragraph 1 (a) of Part IX of the Verification Annex and the term PSF chemical referred to in paragraph 1 (b) of the same Part do not cover ... [Pg.209]

The term oxides of carbon in the definition of unscheduled discrete organic chemicals (DOCs) refers to carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide. The term sulfides of carbon in the same definition refers to carbon disulfide. Both terms refer to carbonyl sulfide. [Pg.209]

Control regime for scheduled chemicals and discrete organic chemicals... [Pg.392]

Any person operating a facility producing unscheduled discrete organic chemicals shall make declarations in accordance with the regime established in the regulations issued under this [Act, Statute, Ordinance, etc.]. ... [Pg.394]

In C-1/DEC.39 dated 16 May 1997 the Conference of the States Parties has adopted the understanding that discrete organic chemicals are not covered by the definition, when ... [Pg.394]

Instead of changing the national definition of discrete organic chemicals. States Parties may - in the regulations - simply not require the making of declarations from natural and legal persons, when the unscheduled discrete organic chemicals fulfil the conditions of paragraphs a) and b) above. [Pg.394]

International inspections shall only be carried out in facilities that produced, processed or consumed scheduled chemicals or discrete organic chemicals in the past and facilities in which the production, processing or consumption of scheduled chemicals is anticipated unless the international inspection qualifies as a challenge inspection or an investigation in a case of alleged use of chemical weapons, or as part of the verification activities related to chemical weapons production facilities and their destruction under the Convention. [Pg.396]

In relation to inspections of Schedule 2 facihties, the First Review Conference noted that almost all initial inspections had already been conducted, and that re-inspection had begun. Inspections of Schedule 3 facilities had been conducted at 100 facilities as at 31 December 2002 (23% of the inspectable facihties). Inspections of other chemical production facilities producing discrete organic chemicals, including PSF chemicals, commenced in 2000 as provided for by the Convention. Ninety-seven other chemical production facility inspections had been completed by 31 December 2002. [Pg.494]
