Directional order

Some materials that are atomically ordered also develop a sHp-iaduced anisotropy as a result of plastic deformation. The origin is thought to be identical to that of thermomagnetic anisotropy, ie, short-range directional order, except that the order is brought on by deformation rather than by heat treatment ia a field (3,4). 

Liquid crystals (LCs) have been the focus of considerable research for many years and have been developed for use in a wide array of applications. Recently, the development and application of polymer/LC composites has become an area of great interest in LC research. Introducing polymers in LC systems increases the inherent mechanical strength and may dramatically change the LC phase behavior and electro-optic properties (7). Conversely, the directional ordering present in liquid crystals forms a fascinating media in which to study polymerizations (2).

Using these small transition words will help you get from one sentence to the other even when it doesn t seem as if the information you have follows a direct order or sense of logic. In this report, the advantages of applying transmission electron microscopy (TEM) in this field are demonstrated. Because of this symmetry, it is proven that the conventional long-range order is not realized. In spite of this, a kind of orbital order, termed the directional order [20,23-25] is realized at finite temperature. A schematic picture of the directional order is presented in Fig. 8. In a one-dimensional chain along the z direction, the z component of the pseudo-spin is aligned ferromagnetically. However, there is no correlation between the chains. A similar order is possible along the x direction. This directional order is identified by the following order parameter.

Direct order entry, or electronic prescribing, is not limited to the inpatient setting. Electronic prescribing encompasses till computer-driven automated processes used to write a prescription for a patient. Within the past few years, technological advances have allowed electronic prescribing to be performed in an ambulatory setting. This process is executed in many ways. Thermotropics may display various organized structures. The nematics (from the greek nematos=wire) are elongated cylinders which have one directional order and lie more or less parallel to one another (Fig.2b) Smectics are organized in layers where the director may have a variable orientation relative to that of the layer. Smectic A are perpendicular (Fig. 2c) and Smectic C tilted (Fig. 2d). The various structures of the layer lead to the distinction of 8 smectic phases (for details see Ref. 16-17).
