Two reports presented evidence that CaMKI and its activators CAMKKa and CaMKKpJ are important in G1 progression of human cells in culture. In one study, WI-38 normal diploid fibroblasts were used whereas the other study used MCF-7 human breast cancer cells together with the non-tumorigenic MCF-10A clone. 

Studies of the role of viruses in chromosomal anomalies are of two types the studies in which the infection takes place in vivo and the infected cells, usually leukocytes, are cultured in vitro to study chromosomal anomalies [184-187] and studies in which the effect of viruses on the mammalian karyotype has been investigated in vitro using either primary cell cultures or cell lines (cells capable of indefinite division—in humans, at least 70 consecutive divisions with 3-day intervals between cell subculture). When primary cell cultures are used (cells freshly derived from a living organism), usually lymphocytes stimulated with phytohemagglutinin are infected with the virus. Since only one cell division can be observed in primary cell cultures, established cell lines, such as HeLa cells, would seem to be preferable for studying the effect of viruses on the karyotype. But these cultures are heteropioid, and therefore most cell lines are inadequate for chromosomal studies. Fortunately, diploid cell lines are now available. 

Observational studies An adsorbed human diploid cell rabies vaccine (Rabivax) has been tested in a post-licensing study in 150 cases of suspect rabid animal bites [42 ]. Adverse events included pain at the injection site (3.4%), swelling with induration (2.8%), and fever and headache (1.4%) there were no serious adverse events.
