Dipicrylamin

In the previous study [46], various kinds of cations and anions (listed in Table 2) were extracted from water to NB using several extractants tetraphenylborate (TPB ) and dipicrylaminate (DPA ) for the cations -Bu4N+, -Pen4N+, -Hep4N+, and tris(l,10-phenanthroline)iron(II) ([Fe(phen)3] +) for the anions. The increase in the water concentration in the NB phase, A[H20], with extraction of an ion was evaluated as a function of equilibrium concentration of the ion in NB. Here, TPhAs and DPA denote tetraphenylarsonium ion and dipicrylaminate ion, respectively.

In another study (40) we found that protonation of pyridine is diffusion-controlled with a one-to-one solute-methanol complex as the reactive species. Thus, while methanol plays essentially no role in the proton transfer to dipicrylamine in the first study, it is indeed intimately involved in the proton transfer to pyridine. 

Shen et al. have reported studies on procaine-selective electrodes embodying PVC membranes [57]. Various ion-pair complexes (procaine derivatives with tetraphenylborate, dipicrylamine, tetraiodomecurate, and reineckate) were incorporated into platinized PVC membranes, and with dinonyl phthalate as the solvent mediator, formed procaine selective electrodes. The efficiency and performance of these were compared, and it was found that procaine picrylamine and procaine tetraphenylborate were the best electroactive materials. The procaine picrylamine electrode exhibited a Nemstian response over the range 10 pM to 0.1 M, and was used as the indicator electrode for the potentiometric determination of procaine. The method recovery was found to be 99.8%, with a standard deviation of 0.9%. 

Analysis. K or a K compound in the flame gives a reddish-violet (lilac) color. This is due to its emission of404.4,404.7, 766.5, and 769.9 nm photons. These photon lines allow for the determination of K by AA (limit of detection = 20 ppb), ETAAS (1 ppb), and ICPAES (0.1 ppb). This latter limit is also attainable by ICPMS and IC. Spots tests with sodium hexanitritocobaltate(III) and dipicrylamine both detect 100 ppm of K.

Hexanitrodiphenylamine (m. p. 243-245°C) was first mentioned in the chemical literature in 1876 and as long ago as 1891 Haussermann [21] drew attention to its explosive properties. The product is known under the names of Dipicrylamine, Hexyl, Heksyl, Hexamite, Hexamin, etc. 

The reagent is prepared by dissolving 0-2 g dipicrylamine in 20 ml boiling 0 05m sodium carbonate and filtering the cooled liquid. 

Dipicrylamine (1 %). Boil a mixture of 0-2 g dipicrylamine (hexanitro-diphenylamine), C6H2(N02)3NH, 4 ml of 0-5m sodium carbonate and 16 ml water. Allow to cool and filter. Use the filtrate for the tests.
