Vapor phase inhibitors (VPIs) can be placed in a package in bulk or by wrapping an article in paper impregnated with a VPl. These compounds are volatile organics, so the package in which they are used must be fairly well sealed. The most common VPIs in use are dicyclohexylamine nitrite (DHN) and cyclohexylamine carbonate (CHC). These inhibitors are very effective for steel, but they should be tested if metals other than steel are present because they attack some non-ferrous metals. [Pg.156]
