Diclofenac oral solution

Tables 95 and 96 give formulations for acetaminophen and diclofenac oral solutions that were developed on a laboratory scale, as typical examples. In the case of acetaminophen, povidone not only solubilizes the active substance, it also reduces its bitter taste [625]. Similar effects are described in the case of sul-famethoxazol and trimethoprim [21,625]. Topical NSAIDs such as diclofenac sodium 0.1% solution and ketorolac 0.5% solution have been shown to reduce pain associated with corneal abrasions and shorten the time before patients can resume normal activities. The use of topical NSAIDs also reduces the need for oral analgesics however, if pain is not adequately controlled by topical medications, patients may benefit from the use of oral analgesics such as aspirin, ibuprofen. [Pg.496]

During acute episodes a broad-spectrum topical prophylactic antibiotic ointment, such as 0.3% tobramycin or 0.5% moxifloxacin, protects the cornea from secondary infection while it heals. The use of a therapeutic contact lens and topical NSAIDs, such as diclofenac sodium 0.1% solution or ketorolac 0.5% solution, provide symptomatic relief. The therapeutic soft contact lens also protects the regenerating epithelium and temporarily provides epithelial stability. A cycloplegic agent, such as 5% homatropine, should be instilled to decrease ciliary spasm and pain. Oral analgesics can be prescribed as needed (see Chapter 7). The eye should be examined in 24 hours and the therapy continued until the epithelial defect is healed. [Pg.505]

Intramuscular diclofenac 75 mg twice daily given for 5 days with oral methadone solution every 8 hours had no effect on the AUC or maximum plasma levels of methadone in 16 patients with cancer pain. No special precautions would appear to be necessary during concurrent use. [Pg.178]

The size of the microparticles that can be controlled by the concentration of the dope solution, flow rate and applied voltage, are in the range of 100-300 ym. The sweUing and dissolution of the sericin microparticles are suppressed at pH 2.2 and increased at pH 7.4, indicating their potential in oral drug delivery applications. Diclofenac was used as a model drug, and its release from the sericin microparticles was suppressed in a stomach-simulated fluid but was increased in a small intestine-simulated fluid (61). [Pg.256]
